Love my 2008 Blu-ray of Predator. Tried renting the Ultimate Hunter Edition, hated it. I'm also sad that Predator 2 looks like Predator UHE.

It's not as slick and shiny as the UHE but it's definitely had a lick of noise reduction. Gonna watch it again in due course though.

Predator 2 is in my collection, too. I'm just saying I wished it looked better.

It's been sharpened as well and the contrast runs a bit hot.

That's what I've thought as well when I've seen it on HDTV and on Blu-Ray. The caps make it look worse than what I remember seeing.

A lot of BD transfers I thought were great suddenly have obvious and annoying processing when I watch them on my newer TV. Size and distance make a big difference for that kind of stuff.

I was shocked at how poor Shoot 'Em Up looked recently and that was a reference title when it came out. Another low-ball VC-1 transfer and unfortunately it appears to have been used by every distributor that released it.

Most of those early New Line ones are mince.

You could always buy the original 2008 Blu-Ray? It looks better than the DVD and the Ultimate Hunter Edition. There's no DNR on that release and for an old HD master it looks pretty good.

Watched Predator 2 this evening, it's exactly as TFD described: noise reduction, sharpening, etc. But it's the sort of image that you kinda adjust to as the movie progresses, it ain't great but it's not the worst Blu-ray ever.

I still love the movie though! "You can't see the eyes of the demon, 'til him come callin'" Gonna round things off with Predators tomorrow night, but there'll be none of that AvP shite, thankyouverymuch.

Never understood the hate for Predator 2 either. As a kid I watched it just as much as part 1. So many more memorable (and hilarious) lines to.

Nor me. Predator 2 was never going to match up to the first one but its still very good in its own right with some killer lines!

Its a hell of a lot better than Predators or that AvP nonsense...

You'd think after being trained by the Predator to dispatch the Aliens in AVP Sanaa Lathan would've made short work of Michael Ealy in The Perfect Guy, ha ha.

From looking at grain...grain...grain...grain. My eyes doesn`t see grain when I walk in the jungle (I don`t do that much junglewalking these days )

A thin layer of natural filmgrain is fine. I have nothing against it. It looks textured and great. A movie like Ironman got grain, but it is a fine layer of it. No problem. Predator is jampacked with heavy grain texture. It is distracting to watch. On an old boxtv with 480p resolution the quality was so bad we didn`t notice the grain. But now on 1080p/2160p screens it is very noticable. Again...UHE edition is too much DNR`d, but I think it looks alittle better than the 2008 version bluray.

I usually trust the directors vision more. Sorry, no hard feelings. But there is a reason they go through such a restoration process as they did with jaws and Lawrence of arabia. (Both sound and picture) And there is a reason it got 5star reviews on all the most respected review sites. A 7.1 remix of an old classic movie can go both wrong and right. As long as they don`t f**** with the original soundeffects and visual effects (Star wars no no no!!) and mix it close to the experience of the original, it is a much better and more absorbing experience for me.

I`m not more "right" in my opinion, but you sure aren`t either.
