I would imagine most people care most about the movie itself. But until we get to see the new transfer, it's rather hard to comment on. SF has done a pretty outstanding job as of late with their new transfers, and usually include the former versions just in case a few people aren't satisfied with the new one.

They seem to get that fans get really jazzed up for new transfers and they also seem to understand, now, what fans like and don't like done to them. To be honest, I get a sense of relief anymore when I hear there's a new transfer and the filmmakers are NOT involved. As much as I appreciate a new commentary from them, the tendency for bizarre choices in revisionist color timing has soured more than a few releases for me.

I know many disagree and tha'ts fine, I'm glad they enjoy those releases. But after the stellar job with TCM2 and ROTLD, I'm really stoked to see what SF has in terms of new transfers. I just can't comment on it until we get to see it is all. So until then, I can only talk about what we do know about.

So hyped for this release but slightly disappointed it doesn't have the Criterion commentary, although I understand that it's up to Criterion and not Scream.

don't worry you aren't missing much from that commentary track. No offense to the original participant at all, it was just pre internet and all the making of etc. No revelations in that commentary at all IMO.

Pretty big for Shout Factory to be getting Carrie, it would've been better as Criterion (along with The Fury)

I never said that. I'm just tired of hearing slip cover fanboys gushing and would rather read discussions about the P/AQ. That's all.

Initially I wanted Criterion to handle Carrie but then it hit me that MGM put out a fully-loaded DVD - extras which Criterion likely would not port over. Criterion themselves have been going light on supplements themselves these days so I think a fully-loaded BD that ports over all previous extra material is the best option.

If you're tired of discussions about the slips, it might be better to wait until the film is actually released and then come back in here and then people can then talk about the P/AQ. Until then, all people can see is the slip, so that's going to be the nature of the conversation for now.

I personally get tired of tall the delivery notice updates from a hundred people, but I realize this board is for fans of the films and people are just passionate about these things, so I keep scrolling.

Yeah, there's just not much to talk about until September, when people start to receive their copies.

It would be better for you psychologically, but there's not much making this different from a Criterion release content-wise. I personally think Carrie fits perfectly fine in the Scream Factory library.

..? Are you comparing Scream's discounted price to Criterion's MSRP? Scream's is 34.93 and Criterion's regular is 39.95. Most of us only buy Criterions at the sales for 20 bucks, too. :P I'd expect this to be on Amazon for ~23 when it comes out, in comparison to Criterions which are usually 28 by release date (and sometimes 23, in the case of all those releases like Hoop Dreams and Cries and Whispers which all went on sale during preorder). You're being very disingenuous, no matter how you're doing it here. I know you love Scream Factory, but distorting reality to try and score weird points doesn't make anyone look good.

Still cheaper, don't get so worked up because some prefer scream over criterion it's not that serious.

I have no problem with it being SF instead of Criterion and I preordered the expensive version. I am just trying to understand why you'd purposely make a blatantly false post like that.

Normal Criterions usually go down to $22.99 or so quite quickly, so they're barely more expensive than Scream releases now-a-days. Since Scream seem to have sorted out their encoding issues I don't see a reason to prefer Criterion at this point anyway though, other than getting cool booklets, which I do love. I'd waste a wish from a genie to have Scream switch from slipcovers to booklets.
