Upon walking on any particular showing, it would be empty or one person watching (Dalek). Then he would report every single seat for every show as "sold" to Sony. gb has a month max left in the cinema. It could very easily be tenth at the box office this weekend and falling fast.

It has grossed 150 million world wide so far in around 3 weeks. It needs another 350 million to turn a profit. Films make less as each day passes but I'm fully expecting Dalek to tell me that gb will gross 350 million (almost double what it has now) in the next month.

This film will not out gross the original gb, it's already made a huge percentage of its overal take and has nothing left in the tank. It made 1.3 million on Monday, won't be long before its less than a million a day which won't make a huge difference to its tally. Gb is done.

At first I thought he was "daft" but over these past couple of weeks he's a big time troll.

I hope the mods do the right thing once it's confirmed there won't be a sequel and perma-ban him.

I disagree, this weekend everyone will realise that Suicide Squad, Jason Bourne and all other films ever made are sh1t and will start an uprising demanding that Ghostbusters play on all screens forever. Then it will become the best film ever

[Show spoiler]Oh no, I've contracted a bad case of Dalekitis

So right next to the "SONY NIXES 'GHOSTBUSTERS' SEQUEL PLANS" headline in Variety/Hollywood Reporter, there would be another headline reading "SONY SUES INDEPENDENT BRITISH CINEMA OWNER"?

I agree 100% but this is a case where it is making no money and is getting negative reviews. Sure some people will like it - find me a movie that no one likes - but this was supposed to be a summer blockbuster yet no one is going to see it. In this case, that speaks volumes. It isn't a case of where the first week was low because of all the talk about it but then it picked up on the second week when people realized it was actually good - it made less on the second week because no one went to see it because few people from week 1 have anything good to say about it. That's why box office means so much here in terms of quality - no one is going to see it and most that do have nothing good to say about it.

This is where I'm at, also. His utter lack of applying any logic whatsoever to any of his posts, and continually "moving the goalposts" to support any ludicrous claim (latest one being not wanting to adjust for inflation when comparing 2016 GB to 1989 GB2's box office returns) was amusing at first, but I think it's pretty clear by now that he's pulling a huge troll job on everyone. Of course, he's already been banned and brought back twice now, so who knows? Maybe third time would be the charm, maybe not.

Not true. My cinema would have 11 screens including an IMAX one and Ghostbusters (2016) would show from its July release for two months. There would always be more 3D than 2D times and customers would be encouraged to support the 3D showings for things like Ghostbusters (2016) where it was clearly made for it. I'd have a poster outside that would read something like 'Want the full experience? Then see Ghostbusters (2016) in 3D or IMAX 3D!'

This isn't a troll job, I'm merely pointing out facts through the numbers.com site (just as many others have on social media).

I'd walk right past that theater, and continue on to my small, indie art-house theater. 3-4 screens max. Plays mostly foreign and independent films. Still projects 35mm film. Intimate setting with 100 or less seats per theater. Basically describing SIE Film Center here in Denver, which is my favorite spot.

I'd still want my cinema to project 35mm film. I think film is infinitely better to digital projections.

Even if I wanted to see GB 2016, I would want to see it in 2D. I would ignore your ridiculous signs, and if your theater didn't have any 2D showings at a time that I find reasonably convenient, I would go see it at another theater or skip it entirely.

Plus even if you had at least some showings of the film for at least 2 months, it would be business suicide to keep GB on your IMAX screen and not put other blockbuster films coming out on them when they open.

And even then, GB should only be kept playing if people are still coming to see it in reasonable numbers. Maintaining screenings of a movie that has left most other theaters and that is not bringing in any business just because you really like it would not be good business at all.

The times wouldn't be stupid. I'd have equal amounts of afternoon and evening showings. I wouldn't have (in my opinion) stupid timings like midnight either. Also the option to book a private screening for an increased price if none of the times suit.

I think the vast majority of this thread and this forum would agree with me over you on that one. Come to think of it: can we have a poll on this? Who's more full of shit, me or Dalek?

But, hey, keep the dream alive! You have a hell of a future in public relations if you ever decide to go that route.

And this right here is an example of mismanagement. A lot of theaters do have midnight screenings. And often because people actually go to them. You can't base what times you offer purely on your own opinion and preferences. You have to follow market demand.

If this theater were to exist in a small town where people rarely go to midnight screenings, that would be one thing. But if it's in a reasonably busy area where midnight screenings get a good amount of business, then not offering them just because you personally wouldn't go to them would be bad business.
