@ Gargus

Please do not make separate threads for asking a question. Use either this thread or the thread of the steelbook you want have a question about.

I was hoping to get the input from the mind of the steelbook collector. I recently sold a steelbook on ebay and the buyer was "dismayed" that I didn't disclose that the piece of paper that was originally glued to the back of the steelbook wasn't included. He said that if I was going to sell it as "used/like new" that all materials included with the original package should have been included.

I try to be as transparent with my sales on ebay as possible, but this threw me for a loop. I will always disclose if a slipcover is missing or a streaming code has been used.

For those of you that collect steelbooks and have purchased used on ebay, should the back credit paper (which wasn't designed to be part of the package) be considered something necessary to disclose when missing.

I honestly had never had someone ask me about that before and I honestly consider the glued on paper to be superfluous disposable packaging. Really, it's just a vehicle for the UPC code. To me, expecting that to be included would be like expecting the original cellophane to be included.

The steelbook, internal inserts, and disc were all flawless and complete.

Just wanted to see what the thought process is from steelbook collectors.

Some collectors want their steelbooks to be as they originally came from the store (so with the backing card or j card) some aren't fussed. Probably best to mention if it isn't there in future auctions just to cover yourself.

I would hope that the J-Card would be included, if it had the product description you mentioned. I have all of my Steelbooks in Plastic shells, and store the J-Card behind the movie, just as it is positioned when in the cellophane. When my Wife, a Family Member, or a friend looks through my collection, I find it important that they can read any info the back of a standard release would contain (Plot Summary, runtime, rating, etc). Just my two cents.

Personally I don't think there can be too much information when selling a used item.

The Condition Description for "Like New" states:

Quote:
An item that looks as if it was just taken out of shrink wrap. No visible wear, and all facets of the item are flawless and intact. See the seller’s listing for full details and description of any imperfections.
The bolded part is what is most interesting here, as that requires you to list anything that would make the item NOT "as if it was just taken out of shrink wrap".

As Jhadur writes, YMMW depending on how OCD the buyer is with this stuff, but writing in the listing that the j-card is not included is probably the best cover-your-a** you can do.

On the other hand, if you have a bunch of pictures from various angles and NONE of them show the j-card, I feel the potential buyer have a bit of the fault for not asking before buying!

Question:

When a Kimchi/Blu Fans/Manta et al says 'Lenticular Slip' does that mean it's going to be like Kimchi's It Follows and Let the Right One In where it has sort of a Quarter Slip on the inside?

If so, would Lenticular Fullslip be what I am looking for if I want the case where you can slide the Steelbook in and out from the side? Also, are all Full Slips like this?

Thank you!

I don't consider the J-card to be part of a "used" SteelBook, but I would consider it to be included in a "new in package" SteelBook.

It's a bonus if it's included in a used SteelBook.

Is there a way to fill or get light surface scratches out of a matte steelbook?

Seconded on both points. If ths listing has clear pics then you are expecting the case is like new. If they don't include the j card then the buyer has the option to ask before buying tbf

Default Did Flash and Arrow has steelbooks previously?

Best Buy is advertising that the latest seasons of Flash and Arrow have steelbooks. Did the previous seasons have them too? If not, then that makes no sense to me. Who wants to have a steelbook for only one season in their collection?

They have not. Last years Best buy sets (Flash season 1 and Arrow season 3) featured a "Flash vs Arrow" comic book with The Flash comic having one ending and Arrow comic having another ending.

Arrow seasons 1 and 2 have had exclusives in various stores but this is the first time we're getting steelbooks of either show

I didn't know there was a thread for that and I couldn't find the Flash Season 3 BD discussion due to how garbage the search function is. My bad.

Well with that quote in mind, here's a couple questions from me. I'm fairly new to the whole Steelbook thing but I love the cover art on them, so I'm getting more and more into them.

  1. I prefer to stick with US editions of Steelbooks, but Zavvi seems to be the best source for Steelbooks. What are the disadvantages, if any, to getting UK ones? Do the digital copies still work in the US? Are the discs region-free?
  2. From checking out these forums, it seems that "Blufans" Steelbooks are pretty popular and I guess have some sort of "VIP" thing. What's the benefit of these, other than the limited print runs of them?
  3. What is the best place to look for OOP Best Buy Steelbooks? Ebay, Amazon, etc.?
  4. Again going back to Zavvi and other retailers - it seems that lots of retailers advertise their Steelbooks as "X Site Exclusive," but when you search you can often find the same Steelbooks at other retailers. For example: Captain America Steelbooks, etc. What's the deal with these? Are they actually "exclusives" or just marketing gimmick?

Again, I know these are pretty basic questions, but I'd appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks.

Hey guys, im considering on buying a bunch of steelbooks (digital only guy right now) but circumstances have changed and im thinking about buying some 'must-haves' from my digital collection.

Where might I find some really cheap deals on Steelbooks (and general Blurays)? (other than the usual eBay)
