I'd almost wish they lingered a little more on those moments to give them the heft they deserve and not make a perception of the MCU as being a joke a minute type of movie verse. I felt like Age of Ultron tried to deal with that a little bit but the quips also kicked in too soon.
I thought they did a good job at avoiding this in Civil War when it mattered. Particularly the big showdown between Cap, Iron Man, and Winter Soldier at the end. Was the most affecting 3rd act in the MCU.

You're right, irrelevant is the wrong word. Even Kubrick's brilliant The Shining needed the novel as a starting point. However in the end no one complains about how different that movie is from the novel, because it's a brilliant movie. I guess perhaps the best way to characterize my view is that novels/comics/games should be inspiration for their film adaptations, but the films should focus on being good movies after said inspiration occurs.

I think more people are in your camp than not, even among those who care about the source material. There are certainly sticklers who will complain about any detail changed. That's a given. But I think more people share your priority of a quality movie overall. However, I do think more often than not, adhering to source material often yields a quality movie. That's not a hard and fast rule, but it's not negligible either imo.

Something interesting to me are the superhero films adapted from lesser known titles. Look at guardians or the upcoming Doctor Strange. Even among comic fans, these properties aren't as popular so when alterations do occur, there's little outcry. Because of that, I think it lends credence to both your position and my belief that people share something at least close to your view.

tldr, I think "reasonable" people who care about the source material do so because they believe that's a good place to start. If the resulting movie deviates but is still great, those same reasonable people will ultimately be happy. And again, lots of loud "unreasonable" people on the internet, but you know, internet lol

They got Robert Redford, Anthony Hopkins, Tommy Lee Jones, Ben Kingsley, Jeff Goldblum, and James Spader for classic testostrone.

But aside from Jenny and Rene Russo, they're really lacking in classic beauties.

Cobie Smulders, Scarlett Johansson, Emily VanCamp, Natalie Hershlag, Evangeline Lilly and I'll even say Leslie Bibb are all classic beauties.

I could be mistaken, but, I think the term of "classic" is related to age. all of the male actors listed are in the "silver fox" bracket as is Rene Russo. if that's what Richard meant then I agree, the classic/silver males don't have enough classic/silver females to match.

marvel, get some balance in the Silver Fox category Hollywood has plenty of hot mature over 50 women, ask Stan Lee to give them a call between cameos! NUFF SAID!

Here's hoping for Grant Ward/Hive to show up alongside Nebula. He'd be a great MCU villain to resurrect.

Why? I think he's one of the MCU's strongest villains personally.

Him as Hive no but he was great as HYDRA agent Grant Ward. I wish they would had turned him into Taskmaster but they missed that ship.

Maybe Thanos could just revive him as Grant Ward then, seeing as Hive only occupied his dead body?

Grant's character is great for TV but no on the big screen. I just want a villain worth fighting for once.
