Let's hope this news feeds into backwards compatibility more than a current control scheme.

I don't want B/C for this thing, I want them to FORGET the Wii U ever happened and move forward not keep reminding people of their mistakes.

Wii U was a flop, there is not going to be enough people, or games for that matter which is partly why it flopped, that need to make b/c at all a priority. They can throw the four Wii U exclusives up on the eshop and make proper sequels to the rest.

Well, here's the problem with that. Nintendo is GOING to release re mastered Wii U titles on NX. You might as well get ready for it. Splatoon, Mario Maker, Smash Bros, etc will all come out on NX with higher resolution, better framerate, exclusive content, etc.

My comment was more geared towards hoping the motion controls are going to be for legacy (BC) titles instead of the control scheme for future NX games. i.e. if there's no BC (which is what you want) that means we're waggling on the NX. Is that also what you want?

He pretty much says that in the second paragraph which I guess can be seen as a bit contradictory

1) This article about NX's detachable controllers supporting force feedback and motion controls has truth.

2) NX prototype had a 6.2 inch 720p multi-touch touchscreen. Unknown if final product's screen size will be larger / smaller than prototype.

Emily Rogers ‏@ArcadeGirl64 3 min
3) Prototype for dock station has USB ports. I heard 2 usb ports, but I don't know if this number will change in the final product.

I don't get this at all. 1080p screens should be dirt cheap now at that size. Hopefully it's just for the prototype. Also if the screen really is that size in the final version, We're looking roughly at Kindle Fire HD6 dimensions minus the controller attachments.

You do realize that the Vita screen is 960x554 at 5" and looks great right? This would be 1280x720. Im sure they're also thinking about battery life (thank God).

Point taken regarding battery life. I guess I just never consider resolution as having a direct affect on battery life so much as processing power, audio, and screen brightness.

Regarding the Vita. You're right that it does look good. However that came out almost 5 years ago. My point was, in 2016 1080p screens at that size are not expensive, so why skimp? Most mobile phones have already moved on to 4K.

Oh no doubt the prices are low enough but we know that since the original Gameboy that Nintendo has usually prioritized battery life over specs. All phones with those gorgeous screens need charged every day just from a couple hours of web browsing. Imagine playing non mobile games on those screens. You'd be wired to a wall constantly.

Isn't it funny with how far technology has come for these mobile devices, the same quantum leaps haven't been made in battery life.

At least for phones the main issue is they keep making them as thin as possible, battery be damned. Case in point the iPhone 6. They had a rear camera bump and so so battery life because they wanted it thin. Make it a couple mm thicker and you no longer have a rear camera bump and can fit a better battery. I dont know much about batteries but I think the tech is there for length, its just that you can't have a super thin phone AND have a decent battery yet. Also heat is always an issue with batteries as well if I'm not mistaken.

I think once this is in peoples hands with a screen better than Vita a lot of concerns will go away. The difference between this and the 3ds will seem like a multi generational leap just in the display alone.

Keywords prototype. Screen could easily be 1080p once the final Nvidia chips are finalized as there will be a big difference with the final cut of the NX vs the prototypes.

Afterall, these prototypes have been out for a while now.

The handheld screen could be 720p and it could output at 900p or 1080p via the dock to the TV.

If it was 720p I'd be happy with it, this is a nintendo handheld after all, imagine viewing it next to a 3DS! I can't wait to see how good Pokemon will look on this thing.

The iPhone 6Plus I got has better battery but yeah using it for any video related stuff eats away at the battery like candy. Now all iPads Apple has made has the longest battery life on any portable devices I've ever used. 7+ days standby, 10 hours web, 8 hours stream.

No I do not want backwards compatibility at all I do not even want motion controls for legacy support I was saying I want them to pretend Wii/Wii U never happened with this thing.

Let me try it this way if I wasn't clear. Backwards compatibility means insert a Wii U disc and it plays, I do not want that at all. Virtual Console is a different story. I would be okay with them re-releasing Wii U games for NX, but only if they remove any motion control nonsense and let the gamer play the games using whatever is the standard controller with NX. I want the standard controller to be a real controller not some half-assed gimmick which is what it is starting to look like so as far as I am concerned if its another ****ing Wii then **** it I am out.

No, you were clear. You're fine with Wii U games being on the VC and having controls re-mapped (which would never happen) but not okay to having people with existing libraries play theirs on the new system.

On another note we're getting a Direct on the 1st and it's all about............................the 3DS.

http://www.nintendolife.com/news/201..._1st_september

Can't be too surprised. Get this out of the way for the NX event hopefully happening this month.

Really have no idea what the 3DS could possibly offer at this stage. Pretty much everything that could be released on it has and it's in it's end of years. Just announce the NX and let the 3DS drift off peacefully into the night.

I would like the NX to play 3DS games though, since it's highly likely that it is using cards anyway, why not let it play 3DS games?

The latest rumour is that the NX has a share button like the DS4, a social button of sorts, as well as the D-pad being split vs the traditional solid D-pad that Nintendo have used in forever.

That's according to early dev units, all word of mouth of course.
