Except in the case of TNG you were NOT overpaying and in the end it cost us future DS9 and VOY on Blu.

Ha ha.

I never seven saw an episode of TNG when they were releasing the sets. At some point in 2015 I watched some episodes on Amazon and then imported the German set.

No responsibility for any of that from me. It is what it is. You can take the energy you/re expending toward your shame/martyr act and redirect it to your blind defense of film revisionism.

Is the standalone 'All Good Things' Blu-ray worth getting, on top of the S7 set? I love the episode but would appreciate some guidance on the quality of the additional special features of the standalone release.

Apologies if this has been covered previously.

I found the standalone-exclusive special features to be excellent. I'm still irritated they didn't include them in the complete series set as they're pretty comprehensive.

If you weren't a fan of the show really then you're not who we're talking about when we complain. The complaints are directed toward people who love Trek, love the remaster, but didn't support it with early full price purchases. That is not you, obviously. It's not weird to support what you love and encourage others to do the same. It's the only way this stuff ever comes out, actually.

I agree that AGT was best as the end-of-TV series, not a movie.

Yesterday's Enterprise was the best single episode of TNG, hands down! It would have made a great movie, however, I prefer that they brought in Enterprise C, not going back to TOS, I don't think that would have been as good. (Only Best of Both Worlds and Time's Arrow beat it, but they are double-episodes).

Generations could have been better, however, I just think the idea of bringing TOS & TNG together doesn't work well. Cameo appearances from single characters in TNG worked, but, bringing the two series together just doesn't. ...IDK, maybe if something had been written differently I'd think differently.

I had to get Best of Both Worlds and Unification (because of Spock & Denise Crosby - Tasha Yar was my favorite in 1st season, wish they'd done more with that character.), but, hesitate to get the others as they are not favorites (would have gone for Time's Arrow w/some nice special features, it stands alone in the series if you ask me. Plus, didn't it actually win an award for costume or something?)... anyway, I may pick this up (AGT) now that I've heard the special features are worth it (when the price is right).

The Klingon stories are not my favorites, though they've kind of grown on me more now than when the series originally aired. I would have done Time's Arrow over Chain of Command, I don't understand why they picked that one.

Oh, please. His decision to buy at a certain pricepoint had no effect on the releases of DS9 and Voyager. Likewise, a handful of nerds like me who made the decision to import the complete set (out of the tiny subsection of people even aware of the cheaper import) had little to no effect on those decisions. You're giving individual posters way more credit (or blame, as it were) than a rationally-thinking person ever could.

What "cost us future DS9 and VOY on Blu" was the lack of interest and/or demand from the general population, coupled with the costs associated with bringing these titles to BD properly. I guarantee there are a ton of fans who spent a small fortune on the DVD releases back in the day who are perfectly content with what they have. And of course, HD versions of the show have been out for a year now on Netflix, which is more than sufficient for a lot of people. There just aren't enough of us fans who care enough to buy the show again on BD. And if there aren't enough for TNG, there sure as hell aren't enough for DS9 or Voyager.

My mom was a huge fan, bought all of the episodes on VHS via Columbia House (two out-of-order episodes for ~$25 ) and again on DVD, and is now perfectly happy watching the episodes on Netflix, should the mood strike her. That's merely anecdotal evidence, of course, but when you look at the state of physical media in general, it's silly to single out people (who have made arguably sound financial decisions, mind you) as the reason you can't buy what you want on BD.

I'm certainly not going to feel bad about getting the whole series for ~$80 just because you want to be a font of misplaced rage.

PS - I'm glad to see some love for Time's Arrow in this thread. It was weird that they didn't give that one a standalone release, nor were there any bonus features to speak of for that episode, if memory serves. I was starting to think I was the only one who really liked that two-parter.

Because for every one of you on this board, there are thousands NOT here who are thinking the same way. EVERY SALE COUNTS. The producers of the discs said it again and again and it was ignored. When will you guys get it?

Indeed. Every single person who bought TNG at a lower price point, or who decided not to buy it at all, contributed to the decision not to remaster DS9 and Voyager in HD. It's as simple as that.

Every sale counts but only if you paid the much higher price right? So you paid $130 per season I gather? After all, even on release most stores had these priced much lower than that. Everyone here needs to list when and where they purchased each season and how much they paid so it can be determined if you're part of the problem. I know I am because I don't have Season 7 yet. Doesn't matter that I bought every other season on release day. I'm part of the blame.

"Time's Arrow" is awesome. Definitely one of my favorites. Jerry Hardin played a terrific Mark Twain.

I don't recall each individual price, but I pre-ordered all seasons and standalone discs from Amazon, and got each on release day at whatever price Amazon was asking. For these, price was not so much a consideration, as I had paid as much as $99 for each "X-Files" season on DVD back in the day. I was willing to pay whatever price (within reason... no $300/season...LOL), and would gladly do so again.

Better ask those gifters how much they paid, this is serious business here friend. While you're at it, you should message that eBay seller just to make sure they originally paid full price.

I'm sorry, but I already paid $120+/season for the series on DVD. Knowing now how little effort was needed to produce those, I felt a bit righteous in being able to get the entire series on Blu-ray at such a bargain price ($210ish).

I know that it sounds terrible, but I can't help but think of it as me having paid the proper price for each respective format, just switched around. Had the DVDs been sold at a price of $200ish for the series, I would have gladly spent $900+ for the Blu-rays knowing the extra work that went into them. In the end, I've spent over $1,200 for the series overall on 2 formats. That translates to just shy of $100/season. In my opinion, that's a more than reasonable supportive price in the grand scheme of things.
