I just.. as in 2 hours or so ago, was playing LBP fine, even online.
But now.. as in, 2 seconds ago... when I start it up, is downloads a NEW PATCH!

Hey I am trying to make a level but how do you get terrain to stay in mid air, so I can have some actual platforming without using the dark-matter. Do I have to put a base in one of the three dimensions you can walkthrough?

Also, how the heck do you make doors? I need them badly but have no idea how to even get started.

About making things float...that's kind of hard. What I tend to do is make something in the background layer, with the thinnest setting. Whatever you use, it doesn't really matter (cardboard, wood, etc), just make something flat. Make sure it's stuck to the ground, and then you can attack platforms to this. It's not the best looking thing, but you can just make a huge background wall, paint it (or sticker it) however you want, and stick platforms all around.

The other more obvious ways are to just hang them from the ceiling using ropes, or rods, or whatever.

As for doors, I assume you mean the respawn doors. If that's what you're looking for, they're in the tools menu, on some page that includes the scoreboard for the end of the level, and some other basic level objects. There are actually two doors, one version gives you 2x as many lives.

Edit: I'm guessing the patch came out in waves, because two of us didn't have it within 3 mins of each other, then one guy got it 20 mins after us..

Thanks for the help, I guess it isn't as easy as I would think with the platforms.

As for the doors, I dont mean the respawn ones, but ones I guess you can make that raise or lower with the press of a button or walking within range.

hopefully the patch fixes some of the server issues. im playing fallout 3 right now but was itching to put lbp back in. its crazy, i want to play both of these games so bad, but i can only play one at a time!

One way i make things float is to use a piece of dark matter behind whatever the object is you want to float. it doesnt matter how big the object is either, even a small piece of dark mattter will make anything float.

And then do you bolt a platform into the dark matter? or just stick it right on top?
