I'm in the US and through searching online I've found what I believe to be a good compromise for anyone wanting all of these today at a good price (4 of the films on DVD though sadly). I've checked multiple FYEs around me and didn't have any luck except for the CASES AND CASES of part 2. I went ahead and got DVDs to see the movies as they were cheap, hopefully can upgrade those at some point in the future when prices are more reasonable / discs are available.

So here is what I did in case anyone else wants to use this information to pick themselves up some of these:

1. Part I on Blu-Ray ($5 at Best Buy)
2. Part II on Blu-Ray ($6 at Wal-Mart In-Store Pick Up)
3. Part III / IV on Blu-Ray ($21 shipped to US from Amazon.ca)
4. Part V / VI on Blu-Ray ($8 Best Buy)
5. Part VII and VIII DVD ($7 Best Buy)
6. JGTH / Jason X DVD ($7 Best Buy)
7. Friday 13th (Reboot) / Nightmare (Reboot) / Freddy vs Jason Blu-Ray ($13 Best Buy)

So a total of $67, not all the best quality and of course not the nice complete Blu-Ray set, but all the movies at least.
Thanks for this, I've been pondering the best/cheapest way to get the set. I had the tin when it first came out, but sold it a year or so ago when the prices were taking off. Wish I'd held onto it, but oh well, that time and money are gone!

If you don't mind digital only, on Vudu you can get them all using disc to digital for really cheap.

Thanks. I bought the 3 & 4, 5 & 6, 7 & 8 double features at FYE. So I wanted to be consistent. But I don't want to pay the $30-$40 prices on eBay. So I'll spend $10 and get the first two individually.

When did you get the 7/8 double feature? I can't seem to find it.

What was the price of them?

I do want one. I have 1-6 already. I'm not overly concerned with Jason Goes to Hell or Jason X.

The problem with the double features for me is that they all come with one Friday film that I like and one that I loathe.

...every single one of them.

I'm not a huge fan of 7/8, but that largely completes the collection for me. Jason 8 has a terrible ending, but it's really the ending to the series. The shit from Jason Goes to Hell doesn't tie in... Which would be forgivable if it was a decent film, but it's not.

Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X and Freddy vs. Jason are spin offs.

What do you hate from 1/2?
How can you hate 3 or 4, and which one do you hate?
The others are understandable and probably self-explanatory.

I don't hate the original, I just don't think it's that good...outside of the last 15 minutes or so.

Part 4 is my favorite of the series, but part 3 sucks in my humble opinion.

...don't hate me.

It's still amazing to me that they got David Cronenberg to do Jason X.

...I would love to know what his motivation was for taking that part.

If I remember right he did it as a favor to the director or something like that. I think they discuss it in the commentary

James Isaac (director of Jason X) had worked with Cronenberg several times before in various capacities. Jason X was also conveniently shot in Canada.

I saw Jason X in an almost empty theatre with a few friends - we had a blast. I don't get the hate this film gets. I suppose people thought it was stupid. Personally, I think you're stupid if you try to take Jason X seriously. Not you personally, of course.

Can anybody tell me the difference between the bluray releases of these films on June 16th 2009 vs Jan 1st 2013. I was looking at Part 2 of both release dates and one says standard edition and the other one doesnt. What does that mean? Got Em!!

One of my biggest issues with the series is that the counselors/teens become increasingly unlikable after the 4th film. There isn't many reasons to really want them to die in the earlier films. But after that it seems like I start to root for them to get killed.

I watched parts of CLM last night and if i remember correctly part of Cronenberg's involvement was Jason had to kill him in the movie, at his request. How great is that !

Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X and Freddy vs. Jason all feel like bad fan fiction to me.

Honestly, I would kinda be excited if Paramount came out with a new 1-8 collection and New Line came out with a set of their own. That way, the whole thing would make sense on my shelf.

I don't hate those movies and can even watch them under the right circumstances, but I don't really see them as part of the original franchise. In some ways, it almost feels wrong having them share the same case with the true original franchise of I-VIII.

I agree about JGTH and X, but unabashedly enjoy Freddy vs. Jason. Seeing it theaters was a truly awesome experience. That and the Texas Chainsaw remake were my first ever horror movies I saw in theaters so it could be nostalgia. I just really enjoyed the concept of Freddy luring out Jason.

I've not watched it in so long but it's decent despite an unreasonably high cheese quotient.

It would have been better with more Freddy kills (I know he's vicariously killing people through Jason but 1 direct kill isn't enough) and I'll still never forgive them for not casting Kane Hodder, who reportedly wanted to do it. How do you pass up the opportunity square Englund's Freddy off against Jason's most iconic performer? This "going for a different look" excuse was totally bogus.
