The oldest join date I've seen was 2003.

The "Blu-ray Disc Founder group" was started in May 2002

First time I came to this site as I was very curious about this future technology was back in 2003. I never knew there was a forum until years later. At the beginning I remember it could be a month or two before there was news, not like nowadays where you have many news daily on the homepage.

I am with you there, man. At first I thought this is more like a news / BD reviews site and nothing more. It was until quite few months later than I realized there is this forum, damn...

Say Josh there is something I don't understand. This first 2002 news clearly says "Nine companies announced TODAY ..." meaning the very day the BDA came together this site was created ? Well I don't know who is the creator of this site but his reaction was very quick to create it. No way that some guy out there during the course of one day, picked the news out there, thought it out, purchased the domain name, created the site and put it all together.

This site must somehow belong or be affiliated with the BDA right ? Who is the owner here ? Blue the super moderator ? someone else ?

Any Dr Watson to assist me in this investigation ?

I am kinda surprised that there has not been a definitive site birthdate given from a mod. Most forums openly celebrate their birthdays but I haven't seen that here. (I always assumed that Sony had a hand in the creation of Blu-ray.com.)

Just think of it like any big corporation, theres a President/Ceo, then it goes down from there. Think about it a little. I have an answer but its not my place to reveal it

I kind of doubt that since they had an HD DVD sister site as well and I can't see Sony doing that.

Okay we know it is not affiliated with the BDA yet it spawned the very first day the BDA came together. Also it has contacts with insiders since there is a section where one can ask them questions (if they ever really receive those).
Also it mysteriously was moved to the much quieter "Feedback Forum" section as if powers out there wanted to silence this inquiry.

I have a theory: What if this site just came to existence through its concentration of midichlorians as maybe the force is strong with this site, but then it will turn evil and asthmatic and choose the dark side of the force ?

was in off topic area if I remember correctly? That's an area not assessable by guests/non members and it was moved here, and area that is assessable by guests/non-members....I am not sure they are hiding anything at all, if anything it just gained to exposure to the 1600+ non-members by being moved here.

Good to know there's a conspiracy theory here as well

This website was created by an executive at Amazon. He heard about blu-rays, pulled some strings and got this site up and running by the end of the day.
