Regarding the remote, I can't seem to get mine to work. Is there any trick to it? I bought it brand new and have checked (and re-checked) the batteries.

Check the back of the packaging, as I think there are some set-up instructions there, like pushing the PS button after turning on the PS3 unit or something.

Read the instructions, like any bluetooth device you have to 'pair' the remote with the PS3.

The online manual may also help.

If you don't spring for the remote you may as well stay ghetto and pick up a 360...

If someone doesn't spend an optional $25 on a peripheral for one system they should turn around and spend at least $400 on a completely different/other games system? Huh?

You can figure it out by surfing through the system settings and such. They have a section for bluetooth devices.

However, the one thing I really hate about the remote is that there is no light anywhere to let you know it is working and connected. Really shoulda hadda light.

You know it's connected and working when you press a button and it works!

Agreed but it's always nice to know that your batteries are the issue when you press a button and nothing lights up, otherwise you might start fussing with settings again to make sure it didn't get reset or something.

It's just how you do remotes and controllers these days.
