I just had a flashback to the bizarro surround remix on the Simitar DVD of "Godzilla Vs Mothra." The added sound effects were possibly the worst I've ever heard, especially in power lines being pulled down. I remember as soon as I heard that, I sold it on Ebay. I almost wish I hadn't done that so I could watch it again!

I believe the Dead Ringers issue is similar to the Child's Play issue where the 2.0 audio track channels were reversed. If they did a correction for Child's Play I'm sure they have one for Dead Ringers too. If you have that release I would email Shout! at info@shoutfactory.com to see if they have a replacement program for it.

IF they do anything, it looks at this point that it would be a replacement deal instead of some attempt to do a recall or fix it in the second printing. The cat is too far out of the bag for the former, and historically they've never done the second (afaik).

There was a post from someone a page back I believe that was a response from Shout! that they will have a decision pretty soon on what they are going to do. There has to be a replacement program. If not, that is going to be bad.

Exactly.

And why is he so upset about people asking for Scream to correct the flawed audio? That's what I want to know. You're happy with the audio? That's fine. You don't need to participate in the exchange program if they offer one. But don't rip on other people for addressing the problem when they are putting money out for a product that was promised to be "definitive" when it wasn't. If you're happy with the audio, shut the f*ck up and move on. Simple as that. You also don't have to view this thread if it upsets you so much.

And 21st century video quality? Wtf are you talking about? Yes it's high definition but the movie still LOOKS like it was made in the 1970s. Your complaints make zero sense.

And a "vertical line that lasts one lousy second" is not the same as a flawed audio track that goes on for 98 minutes. That's 5,880 seconds.

I can't imagine why he'd blow a gasket over it either. All we're asking for as consumers is a level of quality from Scream that doesn't include technical flaws or defect of any kind. If I'm going to put money out for a so-called "Collector's Edition" or "Definitive Edition" then I expect the product to be free of defects - period. I would expect the same in terms of anything I purchase. What's unreasonable about that? And why would someone go off on a crazy tirade simply because he doesn't agree with the notion that we want a quality blu ray release from Scream?

I ended up buying the movie. I really like Black Christmas and I'm hoping for a replacement program otherwise I'm just going to track down the mono and mux it myself which really I shouldn't have to do. Especially with labels aimed at film fans.

I believe Shout responded to an email by saying they would be making an announcement at some point soon. That's no guarantee of a replacement program, IMO. It just means they're going to potentially acknowledge there's an issue.

Sorry if it sounded like I made it sound like I was stating they were guaranteeing a replacement program with my comment. I don't see that in the comment I made but I was referring to what you just stated to me, that they were going to be making an announcement on what they will be doing further.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but Daily Dead posted a review for the new Black Christmas release and gave it a high score with no mention of how the audio is whatsoever, bad or good. That's very odd. Just talked about the transfer (along with it's controversy over the transfer in a demeaning manner of course).

Edit: Hi Def Digest just posted their review and mentioned how bad the sibilance and hiss issue is.
