Sorry to hear that. Took advantage of the price and ordered 3 copies for Thanksgiving presents to start off the holidays for my grandchildren. Found in the box I received two with covers and one without. Might have gotten the last two of the batch that had lenticular slipcovers.

It's Christmas Eve and I'm watching this for the first time finally! The 3d in this is pretty impressive so far but I don't know about the animation.😃

I saw a fresh batch of these at HMV and they all had shiny pristine Slipcovers. It appears Disney prints new stock for the Christmas season. They also had Mickey's Christmas Carol with nice glittery slipcovers.

Watched A Christmas Carol in 3D last night. It was my second viewing since last December. I must say that I actually enjoyed it more this year than last. Classic Charles Dickens story, phenomenal music, brilliant special effects and lots of snow. That being said, the rendering of Scrooge's face rubs me the wrong way. He is absolutely hideous in appearance (yes, it's a reflection of his hateful, greedy inner personality showing on the surface, but still). The 3D is excellent.

This movie received a lot of hate from critics when it was first released. I'm not sure why exactly. I enjoyed it. Even without the great 3D presentation, I thought Zemeckis and Carrey did a great job presenting this story in CGI.

Perhaps people are still remembering Carrey's performance as the Grinch. I didn't like Carrey's interpretation of the Grinch, but his Scrooge interpretation is fine.

This was entertaining, has great computer artwork with motion capture (of Jim Carrey himself) and well told, agreed, and saying that even though I'm not a fan of the whole Scrooge classic in general.

Default Disney's Christmas Carol 3D - disc freezing

I posted this in the 2D thread but got no response so I'll try here.

I started watching the 3D disc yesterday and suddenly the disc froze just as the scene with the horses started up late in the film. My Panasonic player couldn't get past that spot. I couldn't skip forward either. I ejected the disc and checked to see if it was clean and scratch-free (it was) and tried again and it froze in the same exact spot. The disc played fine up until then. I also watched this disc last year and when we first got it, and the disc has played fine previously. I bought a new Panasonic 3D blu-ray player this past January so this is the first time I played this disc on this player. Last year it was played on my old Panasonic 3D player and there were no issues.

Has anybody else had an issue like this with this disc? The set is several years old now so I doubt I could get a replacement 3D disc which is a shame. I hope the disc didn't go bad. I don't have another 3D player to try this in. So I don't know if the disc is going bad or if it's some issue with my Panasonic player. Yes, it's up to date on firmware. Also, I just bought it this past January and this 4-disc set is several years old so there's shouldn't be any compatibility issue. Very frustrating. This set was expensive when I bought it several years ago.

EDIT: I just tried it in my PC using Cyberlink and it froze at the exact same spot, then the screen started chugging and struggling and everything became pixellated for about a minute. Then it got better for a moment, but when I tried to skip a little bit forward, the disc froze again and became all blocky and pixellated and frozen again. I then ran a surface san of the disc and it reported tons of bad sectors at about the half-way point on the 50Gb disc. So I guess the disc has gone bad? If so this is extremely worrying because we watched this disc last year and it played fine. So now I have to start worrying about our entire Disney collection on blu-ray? There's a tiny surface scuff on the disc about a half-inch from the outer edge. I mean tiny. The set was new when I bought it from Amazon years ago.

Mine plays fine on a Sony. Sorry to hear yours doesn't.

Having a hard-to-find disc crap out is probably the worst nightmare of every 3D fan on this site.

I've got a Shrek 3D disc that skips and jumps to the end credits around 80% thru the movie.

We all jumped off the couch screaming like WTF?! Not being able to finish a movie is criminal.

Anyway it happens on both PS3 and PS4, so I'm looking for a cheap replacment...

You may be able to find an Ebay seller who splits sets and sells one disc at a time (no packaging).

I dread to think how much of my collection is going to go unplayable, I've seen a few reports now of blu rays going bad just from sitting in their cases.

I know that those stored in "book-style" packaging will go sooner than others but it makes me shudder to think that discs safely stored can just die...

I don't know about the US but it's still readily available from the UK, just import a new copy:

What is it about book-style packaging that makes it worse? I'm curious because I worry a lot about this issue, especially when I see it happen to my own discs.

I use to use Playstations for movie watching and always had buggie problems with them. I went to non game console player and have never had problem with it.

Try cleaning it anyways. It might help! I have had luck with soft, liquid soap and a soft cloth. Always clean in a radial direction, never in an axial direction. Carefully place it on a clean paper towel to dry.

Good Luck!
