Barbie: Star Light Adventure was released theatrically. But they've been trying to make a live-action theatrical Barbie movie for the past 30 years. So I don't know why that surprises you. The fact that Amy Schumer is playing Barbie is a joke in itself. Beth Berhs woul've been a better choice.

It's harder than you think. First of all, the hardest thing of all is getting a film funded. Why do you think you see 17 logos and 9 producers at the heads of most films these days? Secondly, stick around for the credits on most films and see that many films have a thousand people working on them. Thirdly, it's not that hard to obtain gross dollars, but profits are a completely other matter and most films lose money. In fact, even the really big successful films lose money according to Hollywood accounting. And writing a screenplay is harder than you think. Sit down and write one and then come back to us and tell us how easy it was.

Lool obviously I'm not being literal. I don't know the right people to actually get a script seen, I'm just saying these things take so little talent and inspiration. All you have to do is take something contemporarily relevant, twist it a little bit and package it up as a lowest common denominator comedy.

I have written a few screenplays actually purely for myself.
