The last US releases for The Beastmaster were through Echo Bridge in multi-film packages. Those releases seem to be OOP. I'm under the impression that Coscarelli does not control the distribution rights for it.

Quote:
Witney Seibold: Can you substantiate anything about the Beastmaster remake? I seem to recall that was going to be a thing.

Don Coscarelli: I’m not involved with that. I’m heavily involved with my other projects: Phantasm and Bubba Ho-Tep, etc. Beastmaster there was some international financiers and they own it and I don’t know what they’re doing. I probably know less than you do. I’m sure a remake would be great! That would be fun to see. For me.

Beastmaster would be cool for me too because i wouldn't upgrade from my DVD, saving me $20

Buying that Robocop trilogy last week for $10 in the wake of the Scream announcement was the best decision I made all month.

Have this too, but haven't gotten around to watching it, so can't comment on PQ or anything.

Speaking of upgrades, wish Scream would jump on J-Men Forever.

Someone convince me I need Contamination .7 and The Naked Cage.

Is the Naked Cage better/worse than Chained Heat?

I thought Contamination .7 was terrible when I watched it of the Scream Factory DVD 4-pack a couple years ago. Would not recommend a blind buy on this one, was released as Troll 3 in some regions but has nothing to do with either Troll or Troll 2 and doesn't have any troll-like creatures. Essentially it's a killer plant movie, tree roots and the like.

I wonder if these will be general releases or limited website exclusives...

All singles, or some of them double-features?

In any event, I'm thrilled Scream is upgrading a lot of their earlier multi-pack DVD titles.

These films are an acquired taste. Contamination.7 I find appealing because the gore is pretty good, and Im into tree creatures. It's not some ***** classic like most of Shout's releases. If you can stream or rent it - Id do that first

I wonder if there might be a couple of double features there - The Vampire and I Bury The Living, and Naked Cage and Invasion of the Bee Girls?

Also worth noting:

Just a reminder of the remaining titles on that list:

The Man From Planet X (1951)
The Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake (1959)
The Bat People (1974)
Vicious Lips (1986)
Arena (1989)
Alienator (1990)

I'd be happy to see the first 3 on that list released. That said, I'd be very surprised if they didn't put out Arena at some point. Hopefully some other MGM titles previously issued by Shout on DVD are also in play:

The Amazing Transparent Man (1960)
Beyond the Time Barrier (1960)
The Snake Woman (1961)
The Time Travelers (1964)
The Evictors (1979)
America 3000 (1986)
Cyclone (1987)
Time Guardian (1987)

I'd love to see The Evictors get a Blu-ray release.

Gore and tree creatures? Sounds cool to me. How gorey is it?

Average - I recall one kind of shocking/somewhat revolting scene .. dont expect it to be in the league of Zombie but it had a couple of moments. More of a guilty pleasure kind of thing really

I'd be happy to see the first 5 on that list released. That said, I'd be very surprised if they didn't put out Arena at some point. Hopefully some other MGM titles previously issued by Shout on DVD are also in play:

Time Guardian (1987)

I'd love to see The Evictors get a Blu-ray release.
The Angry Red Planet & The Screaming Skull are BOTH coming and I really think everything on the poll will get a blu ray release. IMHO the great sales for the titles such as The Thing, Carrie, etc has given them some 'budget' to create HD masters for those titles. The movies are relatively short and I cant expect something like The Vampire, Angry Red Planet or the Screaming Skull to be loaded with extras. Again, just my own humble opinion. I dont think these will be limited runs either but we'll see. Im just thankful for them getting released in HD

What about the score by Carlo Maria Cordio, anything memorable? I thought his score for Troll 2 was alright. Preferred that music over his work for Beyond Darkness and Witchery.

Just saw the announcement now, and even though I know it'll be met with a big sigh from some, I'm ecstatic those films are getting the Blu-ray treatment from Scream. The more horror I can get my hands on, popular horror, indie horror, b-movie horror, classic horror, so bad it's good horror and sometimes just so bad it's bad horror (which can be enjoyable in it's own way), the happier I am. Will be picking up all 5 at some point!

I only remember one great gore scene in this, really recommend anyone on the fence on this one try streaming it beforehand, or pick up Scream's old DVD 4-pack which is relatively cheap before picking this up. I remember being very disappointed with it.

The Guardian is much gorier and interesting than Contamination .7 in terms of killer tree movies.
