I remember reading both Greengrass and Damon Made sarcastic comments about the existence of Legacy in Bourne universe during the JB pre-release promos. But then again anything can happen in film industry.

He's been too busy re-writing and ghost-directing all the Rogue One reshoots (40% of the film) to care about Bourne anymore.

The series doesn't need Gilroy anyway. The new movie proved that the franchise can continue with other people writing (though I worry about how repetitive the series may become, given how much Jason Bourne borrows structurally from Supremacy). But if Gilroy were to come back for a Legacy sequel, I'd be all for it. I liked Legacy, I want more of Renner and Weisz, and if Gilroy has a good idea for their next chapter, then I'll be there opening night.

Agreed, i would even like a Bourne film with both Bourne and Cross together. I also thought Legacy was solid and a bit underrated. In a way I prefer it to Jason Bourne. It expanded the Bourne universe pretty well.

I would like Gilory to take forward the Legacy story parallel to Bourne. But JB definitely suffered his absence. JB is perfect in all departments action, directing, music..but lacked in writing and proper story.

Anybody have playback issues with the Blu-ray? I have the Wal-Mart exclusive and about halfway through the movie froze on me. (It's when Bourne jumps off the building at around the 1 hour 15 minute point.) I'm guessing it's a layer change that's causing the problem?

I don't have any issues with playback freezing; I bought the Target version with the slipcase.

No marks on the disc, right? I noticed the Walmart exclusive didn't have proper hubs, just sleeves.

I have the classified collection and will put Jason bourne in it. For the others that are doing that are you just adding the ultimate collection to the database since it is the same thing? otherwise you have to add the classified collection and Jason bourne separately.

I watched Jason Bourne for the first time last night (on UHD 4K).

As I get older and the hearing is not as good as it was, I tend to miss some dialogue due to ambient/background noise and I don't pick up on every plot and character development.

I would very much appreciate an explanation of the following -

1. What was Heather Lee's motivation? Was she

[Show spoiler]helping or hindering Bourne or both?

Did she have

[Show spoiler]some sort of link to Bourne

that I just missed?

2. I get that Deep Dream is a social media platform

[Show spoiler]somehow aligned to the CIA

. What was their motivation. Did they have some sort of link with

I only watched it once on release day, so my memories are not super detailed, but I believe Vikander's character was

[Show spoiler]really out to help herself and get Tommy Lee Jones' character out of her way. She is revealed at the end to be a villain of sorts, who used Bourne to further her own ends. That is why many consider it a cliffhanger of sorts, as she will presumably get her comeuppance later on.

The social media angle

[Show spoiler]was just about the NSA using that fictional social media platform to spy on people. The founder of the problem, a fictional Zuckerberg basically, gets cold feet and tries to back out, leading to the events of the climax (which is only kind of coincidentally related to Bourne's journey, which is more about finding out more about his dad). One of the main criticisms of the film was that these two plots don't feel intertwined enough.

He's violently opposed to taking the material in a new direction, violently opposed to working with professional writers (he co-wrote the last film with his editor) and just keeps on remaking the second film in slightly different locations, and audiences have started to catch on. The trouble is Damon claims he won't keep on making them unless Greengrass stays.

To be fair, when you make a sequel that's a lot different people complain too. You can't please everyone, you're doomed either way unless you walk that perfect line of different and the same like James Bond somehow manages to.

Watched it on Blu and liked it more than in the theaters.

The thing is I didn't expect Bourne to be continuing his journey like only 3 years instead of 9 had happened since the last film. I wanted Bourne to be involved in a different kind of adventure, a fresh start.

Now that this is out of the way, I enjoyed this continuation way more. Cassel is excellent and it's funny we're back now full circle as Bourne's first adversary was also french and called Castel.

Alicia Vikander is so rubbish in this, her character and performance. Such a dead weight for the movie to drag along. Annoying that if this continues, no doubt her character will return.

Mind you even Julia Stiles was more wooden than usual in this.
