Certain Universal and Paramount discs are being re-released in fat amarays (which take the in-store security tag) in February, this is one of them, and the current stock has run dry in the meantime.

Thanks for clearing that up Geoff.

Actually prefer the slim cases for space saving, oh well.

Don't worry, on the 20th of Feb it'll be re-released alongside several other Universal and Paramount titles, with more to follow on the 20th of March.

I tell you what though, it's no wonder Universal have been selling their inventory so cheaply over the last two months! They've been clearing the decks to make way for the 'red tag' fat case versions. That said, Paramount UHD titles haven't gone anywhere near any sales, the tight bastards (as although Universal distribute their stuff, they have no say on how to price it up).

I finally got around to watching my copy of Oblivion 4K, started it and watched about ten minutes, then put the 1080 BD in the machine because I thought something didn't look right. Well, your statement is absolutely true: the Blu-ray looks much better than the 4K. If I could take the picture of the Blu-ray and the Atmos sound of the 4K, that would be the best viewing experience. Universal messed up with this one.

I've been disappointed by a few of my UHDs, some I'm sure I'll use the BD and never watch the UHD again, and it's surprising any studio would release a title in 4K that looks inferior to an up-scaled BD. This was the first disc I watched on my new Oppo 203 and . I should've opted for Pacific Rim or something else I'd now would look perfect.

The last hope is for Dolby Vision discs from Universal coming 2017 since many says the streamingversion looks better.

I've read on this forum that people think the 4K version sucks. I picked the 4K version up on sale not having high expectations, but when I watched it, I was pleasantly surprised. I thought the HDR looked great. I don't think the 4K version looks soft. I have an LG EF9500 OLED and the Samsung UDB-K8500.

After reading the last couple of pages, is this worth the upgrade over the Blu-ray? I'm getting mixed reviews, so I want to see what some of you guys say. Thanks.

No. Don't reward Universal for their screw up.

Has anyone noticed new Slipcovers for this and Lucy? I think I heard possibly Lone Survivor too. With the sharp edges?

I just ignored the good advice being given by several here and ordered the Oblivion UHD HDR disk from Amazon. In my own defense, I did so only because it was the only way I could get the TrueHD Atmos soundtrack. The 1080p version has "only" DTS-HD MA 7.1. That's not chopped liver, of course, but I do love me some Atmos. Anyway, looking forward to receiving it later in the week. Will report my impressions after I have watched it.
