I'm curious because somebody speculated earlier, are you actually legally bound to not specify? Even if not, I wouldn't push you further, you clearly don't feel comfortable getting specific, I'm just wondering whether that is personal or some kind of general legal requirement for this sort of thing.

MisterLime,

Can you confirm that the recently announced April release of Tristan + Isolde is the Kevin Reynolds film from 2006? (I don't know what else it would be, but wanted to make sure) Also, when possible, can you confirm whether or not it will port over the extras from the Fox DVD?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, its the 2006 Kevin Reynolds film and yes, we will port over the extras from the DVD. It will be a regular Kino Lorber release and not a KL Studio Classics one.

Amen. Thanks for the response and the release. That one's going in the cart at the first possible opportunity.

We're not legally bound, but it'll most likely anger our studio partners and others involved in the decision.

Of course Kino Lorber struck a deal with Paramount on this so I am not sure how long they have to release it before the rights expire.

I just hope this get's released before the end of the year.
That would be amazing. Ridley loves his commentaries and making of docs, so let's hope we get extras of some kind.

Any update on the possibility of a Mario Bava collection (Or collections), maybe with a bunch of new extras created? These films are genre classics, and most of them were released barebones, not even including the DVD extras.

I know a year or two ago you mentioned that it was a possibility/ something that was being discussed. Even if you can't include the AIP cuts, it would be nice to see these films get more love here in North America, as the UK only Arrow editions are stacked!

If we promise to KEEP it a secret, can you give us a bit of a hint?

Basically it boils down to Studio/Company courtesy. By playing nice, there's always a chance of continuing the relationship down the road.

Personally, while I would love to know the title of the movie, I would prefer if Kino worked to strengthen the business deals with the various studios.

MisterLime - do you have any 60s-90s horror titles in the new MGM deal? If so, can you tell us how many of them are previously unreleased on DVD?

Yeah, it's like back in the 80s/early 90s, when Heavy Metal went unreleased on home video (until the mid-to-late 90s) because the music clearances were too complicated and expensive, all the while it would continue to play on Cinemax every so often, because TV/cable rights were part of the normal distribution scheme for movies.

OK. Since we're all competing to see who can get Mister Lime fired... here's my shot... The Great Gatsby (1949).

I just asked about that title about a week ago, and he said they've requested it in the past but never got it.

The fact that the mystery film was never released on DVD is the most intriguing element of this guessing game, to me.

I'd like to add a question for MisterLime: was this mystery film ever released on DVD in a foreign territory? Or is it a true DVD orphan worldwide?

Yeah, that's why most people think it's the Keep, being that it's a Paramount title that's never been released on DVD and is oft-requested.

To make up for the LOOPHOLE fiasco on Amazon. We've decided to put the following Blu-rays on sale for $11.99.

Free shipping with orders of $50 or more - the shipping offer is for all the titles on our website, not just the 7 shown here.
