Better codec/Dual Layer? - Blu-ray Forum

Anyone know what movies are going to be DL, and or offer the VC-1 codec for sure?

I have read that some movies where noted as being DL specific such as black hawk down (anyone know of any others?). and that after the first 4 BR titles from Warner launch, all others will be VC-1 after that. But I havent been able to find a Link to any solid info, just all Forum banter.

If anyone has anything...I think this would be a cool source for info.

I don't believe there are any facts on this subject. All I've seen is tons of speculation.

allegedly, they had already produced the first four flicks in mpeg2 (probably not knowing it was going to be an issue on SL).

Then, all the hooplah over VC-1 vs. Mpeg2 on SL came about and they have decided they want to give consumers on boths sides great content.

You know, MPEG2 on SL is not necessarily an issue per se.

As some have noted in various places, the DTheater tapes which were MPEG2 look fine and many would fit nicely on a SL BD. Of course there would not be a lot of room for other things...

In any case, the point here is that the WB ones may look fine if they came from good masters and were authored well. Even with MPEG2.

Of course, they may also look substandard. Only time will tell
