For the second time in three days, watched "Flight Of the Butterflies".
Though one can be blown out by special effects in movies, nature done right is the most awesome example of 3D at it's best because it is indeed so "natural". |

Is that the same one they have (or used to have) on Netflix in 4K?

YUP! He and his wife. And he finds one with the tag by chance when sitting on a tree stump (?) and looking down at the ground. If you haven't seen it in 3D, it's stunning, even if it can't reproduce the detail of the 4K image.

just finished sword master in 3d, the 3d is very good, this film was made and shot with 3d in mind, some very good popouts including a snake, swords, hand claws, ninja stars, the sword fights look very nice in 3d, the very first sword fight at the beginning in 3d is the most impressive, it stuck out to me the most in 3d, depth is nice as well.

My latest arrival is the Italian release of Ratchet & Clank which I spotted as containing the 3D version
![]() My first thought when this arrived yesterday, naturally, was to check if it had forced Italian subtitles on the English audio track, and yes it does. But then I noticed that while the LG blu ray player was not letting me switch off the subtitles, it was letting me move them down off the picture into the letterboxed area. Better than nothing I thought, my PS3 doesn't let me do that. Today I put the disc in my PS3 just out of curiosity really. I started the film in Italian this time, pressed square to bring up the pop-up menu and switched it to English. No subtitles came up! The on-screen dates/times/places are still in Italian of course, but no subs for the dialogue. Result! Here's where I bought it: https://www.amazon.it/Ratchet-E-Clan...=ratchet+clank - the cover looks like the 2D version but look at the back cover and it confirms the 3D. The cover is the same as pictured except that it has BLU-RAY 3D + BLU-RAY at the top and 3D after the title on the cover and the spine. I don't think a separate 2D version exists anyway, which is the way it should be. Last edited by the13thman; 02-04-2017 at 09:41 AM. Reason: more details |

Any pop out is so mild that you won't really notice it and for the most part, the depth is shallow too, with below average layering and separation. Think Toy Story. Having said that, volume on foreground characters is reasonably decent and there are some nice deep corridor shots as well as some space-based action with lasers and other spacey stuff that separates out nicely - spaceships, planets, plasma beams etc. Only a few seconds of confetti sadly, I always like a confetti shot in a 3D movie. That and snow. Anyway, it's Disney-style 3D you're getting here so the bigger your screen is, the better you'll benefit from the 3D. Despite it being very conservative, I still think the 3D version is a definite improvement on the 2D version, which I'm glad I never bothered with.
