I'll vouch for Dheepan, especially if you like cultural clash studies like La Haine. It seems all the more relevant in today's political climate. It was among my favorite films of last year.

Great month. Othello is a big one. Good Morning is not really one of my very fav Ozu's, but I'm keen to rewatch it, even if I would have preferred an upgrade of Early Summer.

OK, somehow I missed the Jeanne Dielman announcement the first time around.

So, looks like:

Ghost World
Jeanne Dielman

on Day One.

Then I'll look at Taipei Story and possibly Dheepan in a sale. And possibly Othello as well.

I guess we kind of have 3 upgrades this month, including "I Was Born, But...". Is this the first time Criterion is putting out an Eclipse title on BD? Also, do we know if it is truly an HD version of the movie, or more of an upscale of the DVD transfer? The Good Morning page doesn't mention it being an HD transfer or anything.

It sounds like an SD version as an extra.

So with Good Morning announced, I think that confirms for me that the shot outside the window in the NYD drawing was for that title

Also maybe I'm stretching things, but do you think the letter "T" could be for Othello somehow? It's a "T saying Hi = T...Hello..maybee?

I had a feeling that Taipei Story was not going to be released as a standalone. The reality is that Yang just isn't popular enough, and A Brighter Summer's Day probably wasn't a great seller for Criterion.

Having said that, the versions of Tapei Story I found on the internet years ago were completely terrible, so fans should be grateful that whatever we end up getting will be a substantial improvement.

I am glad they're continuing the WCP sets. I had feared they abandoned them, like Eureka did in the UK after just one release.

It is surprising they used a newsletter clue for it too. Definitely gave me the impression that it would be a standalone title.
