I'd assume they'll be pressed discs as it's the proper blu-ray logo on the cases in the mock-up photos as opposed to "Blu-ray Disc" which is on cases for BD-R releases.

I'm glad I rent from them and they even have tons of WAC DVD titles available. Of course they'll be offering this for rent

The case means nothing. My Film Detective Kansas City Confidential BD-R release uses the exact same case as hundreds of other pressed releases by other companies. Just pulled it out to be sure.

I thought that there were two separate releases of Kansas City Confidential. One was a pressed disc in a standard blu-ray case and I believe the other release was a "restored" BD-R version in a case with "Blu-ray disc" on it. Of course I may just be cofusing the Film Chest release and the Film Detective release.

It was my understanding that BD-R's cannot be issued in cases with the standard blu-ray logo on them becuase BD-R discs do not fully meet the blu-ray criteria as outlined by the blu-ray disc association.

Either way, I hope these are indeed pressed discs.

Great news that we got a label focusing on just the classics. There's so many movies from the 30s-50s that need BD releases, just as long as the picture is nice and clear of course.

Yes, there are two releases of Kansas City Confidential - the original was pressed, and the newer one is BD-R.

Technically, you are not allowed to use the Blu-ray Disc logo for BD-Rs, that is against the rules of the Blu-ray Disc Association. But small labels like this fly under the radar most of the time and get away with things like that.

I'd say distribution through Shout already confirms that these will be pressed, but if there is still any doubt, I did ask them on their Facebook page and I was messaged back that yes, they will be pressed discs.

Wow, a Mann/Alton set would be a dream release! T-Men and Raw Deal should look fab on BD. I'm wondering what the potential third film will be, as He Walked by Night is with MGM and Border Incident/Devil's Doorway are WB. I guess it has to be Reign of Terror (aka The Black Book) by process of elimination. (I found it to be a minor Mann, but beautifully shot of course.)

I have the more recent BD-R version (unfortunatly - wish I had the pressed one).....it is in the Same "Elite" brand case as hundreds of my other titles.

And that is the only BD-R release I own.


On another note...some good titles in that update of what is in the pipe that I'm interested in. Hopefully they get some reasonable street prices. The $40 pre order on what is available on Amazon isn't going to cut it.

T-Men, Raw Deal, & You Only Live Once for me. These are all fantastic announcements though. Going to have to start keeping a close watch on this thread, I think.

I cannot wait to upgrade my DVDs of Raw Deal and T-Men.

I have a great region-free Spanish disc of You Only Live Once, but I might double-dip on general principle.

All eight of these discs look like winners, though.
