Cheap material, yes...I am sure Opips3 will soon chime in with one of his comments on this too

YouTube not real 60fps?
https://creatoracademy.youtube.com/

Until recently, the maximum frame rate on YouTube was capped at 30 fps, but now we’re playing back videos shot at up to 60 fps (we also support 48 and 50 fps too!). Creators producing animated or gaming videos love 60 fps because it allows videos to take advantage of the high frame rate output of gaming consoles, and results in a sharper, smoother visuals.
They say they allow playback of videos shot at up to 60 fps, they seem pretty clear on the term "shot".

Can't remember reading anyone who didn't like it. It was a good film, just not the best film of the year. Far, far from it. I think some of the posters in this thread are more impressed by the image quality than the actual film for the most part.

It can do real 60 fps, but most of the movie trailers are converted using certain software like Aftereffects. It isn't a knock on YouTube as much as the content on it.

Ok maybe the movie trailers I mentioned earlier are not in real 60fps, but you cant deny that there are plenty of videos in HFR available on YouTube

I finally got around to watching the whole UHD movie last night. My PJ doesn't have HDR but is 4K. Even without a HDR to SDR translation (which my Sammy Blu-Ray can't do) the colors in the movie looked very natural.

Although I felt the acting was a little suspect in parts, I really liked the High Frame Rate. It did feel more like watching reality than it did watching a movie. The high level of detail is definitely reference quality for what UHD is capable of. There are also several scenes, for example the speed of the circular pans around Billy, which simply would not be possible at 24FPS. It would have been a blurry/jerky mess.

The battle scene was the most realistic I think I have ever seen. It really did put you in the middle of the action.

I think my biggest problem with the movie was the soundtrack. For some reason it seemed like an unprocessed soundtrack... Sort of like you see in some of the special features where they haven't done the final sound work. For me the soundtrack cheapened the movie. I even have Dolby Atmos setup in my home theater and it just didn't seem to fit the quality of the visual. I found myself being distracted by the audio rather than the audio adding to the experience as it does in most movies. The word "tinney" is the best word I can come up with to describe it.

I would love to see something like a Marvel movie shot in HFR to see what is possible with this kind of movie.

I thought the Sammy had SDR conversion? It's just you can't manually turn the HDR off in the setup menu, you have to let the display EDID tell it that the output should be SDR 709.

Does it still show the "This Film is presented in 60fps" message before the movie when your equipment isn't compatible? Kind of like how the early Fox discs would have handshake issues with the Samsung player and tell you your TV wasn't 4K or HDR.

I don't see how that's possible, as the 60fps should either work (in whatever combo of subsampling, gamut and dynamic range applies to the target display) or nothing of the movie will be displayed at all, never mind the message. It won't pass a 24p version if it doesn't detect a 60p compatible display, it's not like HDR-to-SDR or 4K-to-2K conversion.

Movies have always tried to mimic reality. Now that we are witnessing more realiry-looking movies thanks to hfr people are complaining that movies are looking "too real"

So how are people with SDR 4K TVs using this player at all? Like I said, there's no MANUALLY selectable SDR conversion/HDR Off kinda setting but if it's connected to a non-HDR display then the EDID will activate the SDR conversion, as referenced in several reviews of the player...

^ Which is not too dissimilar from the SDR 2020 output on the Panasonic players, it cannot be manually activated but with the correct EDID then it will indeed do it.

What I meant was that you cannot disable HDR in the player if you want to watch in SDR on a HDR display. The OPPO 203 can

At least we've established it can do SDR conversion though, eh?
