No. The PS3 only responds to Bluetooth remotes.

if you havent changed any of the settings on your samsung, you can always revert to its original settings, under the 'settings' menu, you can find reset on the bottom area. what is the model of your samsung display unit? try doing a search to see if we have that available in our display threads.

Well, I think I am going for the PS3 and for a receiver, the Sony 820. Anybody have experience with these two together?

Default Final on fan noise

I'm thinking about getting a PS3 at the next price drop (After Christmas sometime). Gamestop has older players, but I also know the older players that run the hotter core technology are noisier. I'd also like the PS2 compatibility; so that's why I'm looking at used (newest models won't play PS2 games). My player will sit about 6-7' away from me, on the stand next to my TV.

My first priority is noise. I've heard the newest players are virtually silent. Are they as quiet as the last player made that is PS2 compatible; or are they quieter? My living room is extremely quiet. If I need to go with the newest PS3, then I will.

Second, is there ANY reason NOT to go with PS3, and get a stand-alone instead? If so, which model? I'll be getting a Pioneer PDP-5020FD TV, and have a Yamaha HTR5020 Receiver. (I know, 50" @ 6-7 feet away. I'm a glutton for movie pleasure ).

This is a function of your room temperature and specifically airflow surrounding the area where you intend to put the PS3/BD player on. Even BD players have fans though their dedicated SOC means the fans won't kick in until it gets really hot. Generally the newer PS3s run cooler so its quieter but it is a function of your room.

Not really. Categorically best value for money.

The noise the PS3 makes is nothing compared to the 360. That thing is REALLY LOUD.

Some members here have problems with that firmware...
I'd rather wait and see how it turns out.
Thanks.

Default Problem with "movement" in a PS3

Hi

I have the PS3 and the Sony BDP-S3000, connected to the same TV (Samsung, LCD,1080p, HDMI). the PS3 is faster than the other one, but i have one problem with the PS3. When the image is on "movement", it appears like a "stella, shadow, silloute" of the person or thing.

The optical pattern doesnt appear with the BDP-S3000.

any help?

I have an extensive collection of blu-ray movies as well as the latest releases. When I travel to relatives homes, sometimes I will pack up the PS3 & take it with me so we can watch Blu-ray movies. In my home, I have it hooked up by HDMI cable to my receiver but the relatives homes that I travel to do not have televisions with HDMI connections, only component. So after unplugging the HDMI cable and power cord from my home, I pack it up in an appropriate Sony PS3 travel case and then attempt to connect it to the relatives' TV but when I try to plug the Sony component cables in, I get no picture because the PS3 is set to output HDMI.

So, in order for me to accomplish this task, before I leave my house, I have to plug in my old PS2 component cable (that is still connected to my setup just in case I ever decide to hook up the old PS2 even though I have never done that or played a PS2 game in the PS3 ) and go into the "Display" setting and select "Component" output, then switch to the appropriate input on my receiver, then choose on the screen that I want to keep this setting and then choose the analog audio output instead of HDMI in order for me to be able to play the PS3 at my relatives house. Needless to say, when I return home, I have to go through this whole setup in reverse to return the PS3 to its normal HDMI settings.

My obvious question is, is there another way to do this? Someone had previously mentioned how the 360 will output both digital & analog audio but it also outputs video from both its HDMI and component outputs. If I take the PS3 without manually changing the video output from HDMI to component, can I somehow connect it to a TV without HDMI hookups? It would seem to me that if somehow you no longer had an HDMI connection, there would be a way to hook it up to a tv using either composite or component.

Thanks,

Max
