What is the defenitive BR disc for the first buy?

Yep. See it's not so much that I don't like movies, it's about the signal to noise ratio (movies worth seeing compared with the slough of crap out there). For the handful of excellent movies per a few years, there are thousands that I can't help feeling my time would be better spent playing a game or sweeping our kitchen, or more currently: visiting web pages and forums like this.
