It's ridiculous and no one asked for this. That's the point.

It's her face that makes her be perceived bigger than she is. She has small eyes/features but a very round face shape. In turn, makes her upon first glance look heavier.

Speak for yourself, my Barbie is very much alive. She's actually making love to Ken right now, and I feel like a proper voyeur for watching.

Is it ridiculous that they're making a movie about a doll? Is it that they're making a movie about this particular doll? Are they giving short shrift to more important aspects of the Barbie universe?

What's the ridiculous part, exactly?

Sure, it's all fun and games now but wait until they start spying on you.

It gets really creepy really fast.

Or so I hear.

Amy Schumer Drops Out of ‘Barbie’ Movie
Quote:
Quote:
Amy Schumer has parted ways with Sony’s live-action “Barbie” over a scheduling conflict, Variety has learned.

“Sadly, I’m no longer able to commit to Barbie due to scheduling conflicts,” the actress said in a statement to Variety. “The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I’m bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen.”

The big screen adaptation of Mattel’s iconic toy line was expected to start production this summer on June 23, but Schumer’s busy schedule includes a lengthy promotional tour for her new Fox comedy “Snatched,” which opens in May.

Sony, however, needed to stick to its June 29, 2018 release date as Mattel already has merchandise and product cycles in motion–shifting the production to accommodate Schumer would have put on a strain on other partners on the film, according to insiders.

“We respect and support Amy’s decision,” a spokesperson for Sony said in a statement. “We look forward to bringing Barbie to the world and sharing updates on casting and filmmakers soon.”

Sony is still trying to find a director for the comedy. The “Barbie” movie is said to be in the vein of “Splash”, “Enchanted” and “Big.” In it, the main character gets kicked out of Barbieland for not being perfect enough and lands in a real-world adventure.

Schumer recently did a polish of the script. It’s unknown whether the same tone will be kept with the comedian no longer attached.

Walter F. Parkes, Laurie MacDonald and Amy Pascal are producing the film. Parkes and MacDonald initiated the original deal with Mattel in 2014.

Schumer can be seen next in the action-comedy “Snatched,” which opens on May 12, 2017, and also has “Thank You for Your Service” opening in October. She is repped by UTA and Maverick Management.

More like people talking trash on her and her looks/weight is more than likely.

Cue the casting of Margot Robbie/Scarlett Johansson now.

I, like so many other adults on the internet with no interest in the Barbie brand, will share my strong opinion about this matter, despite probably never planning to see the film or caring about it in any way.

They did this very same premise with other famous properties, like Masters of the Universe, Fat Albert, and The Smurfs. Those didn't go very well.

Well, to be fair, Barbie is character with half a century of tradition of being criticized for being unrealistically thin. The only person who could portray it would be this thing (warning: this is a pretty gross picture, and I say this as someone who prefers the thinner girls to the landwhales that are popular today, so I spoilered it out):

[Show spoiler]

Amy Schumer is a comedian whose entire shtick revolves around her being a morbidly obese slut.

The boot doesn't exactly fit.

Now, obviously the idea is not to have the lead actress look a victim of being starved in a basement for 20 years, so obviously the "model" above is not the best choice. But, yes, this is a time when the Margot Robbie body type is more applicable to the ideals of the character.

That being said, Toca's right; I don't give a f**k about this movie and the only way I'll see it is if Nic Cage gets cast as Ken and so my completionist side will take over.
