Not sure what's 'good' about these pictures? I've seen cosplays that done Lara Croft more justice than this

Those new photos are great. Still not sold on this being so focused on Lara's father (srsly, what is it with the films/newer games and having Lara's parents as her motivation?), but shit happens.

I dunno about that. Her voice acting is a mixed bag.

I agree. I'd have much rather seen Camilla as the film Lara. I just don't know what to think of it...

Loving it. Huge fan of the reboots. Alicia Vikander is one of my favourite actresses at the moment and I'm more than happy with how she looks in the film.

Anyone else feel they missed out on giving the Legend / Underworld Era a movie version? Emily Blunt or Rebecca Furgesson around 2009/11 Era would have been perfect for Lara.

Yes, either of the two ladies you mentioned would've been perfect for that particular era.

Much ado about nothing. I can't believe there was a controversy all because a guy touched Lara's thigh.

I find it immensely troubling whenever they run with the trope of sexual violence being the catalyst for a woman becoming badass. That shtick belongs in exploitation flicks.

Agree with the sentiment that she looks a lot like the Lara from the rebooted video games. Which is a good thing since those games kick serious ass.

Is that in the sequel? I don't recall such a moment in the first game.

Meh. Bruce's parents getting gunned down was the catalyst for him becoming Batman. People becoming badass as a result of a traumatic event is something that's been around in fiction for a long time. Nobody bats an eyelid when murder is used as a plot device, but rape is treated as as some sort of untouchable taboo that you're not allowed to talk about.

Like I said, there wasn't even a rape in the reboot anyway. Lara is bound. A guy runs his hand up her. She breaks free. They struggle. She shoots him in the face. The scene is about her making her first kill, but all people can focus on is the sexual implications.

Well that's because they're not remotely the same thing. Besides, specifically with Tomb Raider Lara Croft is supposed to be badass because she's intelligent, and thrives on adventure. Not because some tosser touched her up.

That's more down to lousy writing than anything else. In the original games, Lara was driven by her own ambition. She had a thirst for adventure and was essentially an adrenaline-junkie. Apparently that won't fly with modern gamers, so the developers decided, 'Let's make her suffer as much as possible.' Then we get the reboot where character development amounts to falling down repeatedly and getting impaled on sticks.

This bit always makes me laugh: the massive grunt immediately after she says 'Sam's pack.'
