Because Blu-ray can be doing even better with their support. I really don't get how you don't understand that?

Will Blu-ray fail without Toshiba? Nope.

Will Toshiba's backing help them? Yes.

Are Toshiba childish, stubborn pricks? Yes.

Pretty simple.

I'll send Toshiba an email and ask them to please join Blu-ray. It seems to be breaking your little heart. Would that make you happy?

ROFL!!! That was great.

However the only problem I have with Toshiba is their Advertising. A lot of companies have good Upscaling DVD Players, but it seems that Toshiba is trying to convince the Public that buying theirs is just as good as having a Blu-Ray player. That is a whopper of a false statement and it only adds to the confusion in the market. If there was any truth to it I would have no problem with it, but let's get real, it is just their way of trying to stick it to the other companies that came out on top in the HD vs Blu format war.

Yes it is breaking my heart. Every Toshiba product I have had so far I have hated. But yeah sorry about having an opinion and thoughts on a subject I must have misunderstood the point of a forum...my bad.

I would imagine the profit margin on these players is much higher than Blu-Ray would be for Toshiba
I would imagine I am a billionaire, that is the thing about imagination it does not need to be based on facts.

Well a little more than that. I'm in the electronics industry and one of my specialties is estimating the manufacturing cost of competitors products. But then again common sense is all thats required. You have the same old $30 (retail) DVD player with a new plastic facade and a new scaler chip selling for $99. On the other hand you have a brand new cutting edge technology Blu-Ray player, which shares almost nothing with DVD approaching the $200 price point. Add to that the Blu-Ray development and tooling cost is not nearly paid for as yet. You do the math.

Once again you got the Blu Glasses on. You keep thinking of Blu-Ray with a scorched earth mentality. Like everything else was going to go away when HD-DVD died.

Apologies to you Red. I'd much rather discuss the joys of blu-ray ownership than bicker over a Toshiba upconverter that neither one of us is planning to buy.
Have a good holiday!

So VERY true. I can't remember the last time I saw a Toshiba product anywhere. In fact I thought they were gone years ago until HD DVD came along. I think this was supposed to bring them back, but...that's history now and if Toshiba keeps making decisions like this they will be too.
