Adele has just completed three concerts here in Auckland. Sell out crowds of 40,000 each night with many more unable to get tickets. Eight concerts in various cities in Australia, I didn't realise that there were so many older women over here

Mind you, I have been called a bit of an "old woman" at times

Well maybe i did generalize a bit but let's take Drake for example. He just broke the streaming record yesterday. He had broken it last year as well

In fact it seems ever new music release breaks the streaming record

http://www.theverge.com/platform/amp...eaming-numbers

Buying a CD is just not en vogue anymore. Same with movies but i seem to see more movie collectors than music if social media is any indication

I read a den of geek article today about the demise of dvd and bluray sales.

This was good, but in terms of westerns, it's not close to The Searchers or McCabe and Mrs. Miller. I still want this, just for the production values.

Searchers would be my #2 Western, second only to this. Never really cared for M&MM, saw it back in college and it just didn't do anything for me. But it's probably a movie that needs to be seen more than once. Just don't feel like shelling out for the Criterion, as I probably wouldn't watch the movie very often at all.

M&MM is the most realistic western ever made, but that's one of the reasons why I love it so much. The atmosphere, the sets, the characters, the cinematography, the deconstructive analysis, it's so damn good.

Searchers is Ford's best film and Wayne's best work. It's influenced so much of what was to come, like Taxi Driver to Breaking Bad. It's basically an apology from Westerns for showing Native Americans in a negative light. The ending always makes me cry.

You're turning into another Bates Motel. No one is saying physical media isn't selling less, it is. In fact I am one of the most frequent users of the word "niche" around here because I firmly believe that's where we're heading. However this doesn't mean death, it doesn't mean I should sell everything and switch to digital. It just means the market will be split, and people who care about quality and extras and don't mind paying a bit more will buy BDs and UHDs, while the mainstream people switch to streaming.

Like I said above, this idea there's only two speeds, 0mph and 100mph, is silly. Yes we're going down 10% a year from the DVD boom heyday, but last year BD sales increased and UHD sales are off to a great start. There will be a market for disc media for many years to come, it just won't be the mainstream market.

Those numbers sound bogus to me...300 million times in a week? And 600 million for Ed Sheehan? Who can audit them? Only Apple would have access to the source data, and it's in their own interest to pump the numbers as high as they can.

I completely agree with everything you said I just think you completely overstated CD sales when really it's only Adele moving units. Just like with movies these days the streaming and digital comes week(s) earlier than the physical, if a physical comes out at all.

I realize this isn't the physical vs digital thread but I'm still pro physical. Just had 4 movies delivered yesterday. But unlike some here I'm not going to be so extreme as the "if movies go digital only, I will stop collecting them" sentiment I read on here often. I will adapt if necessary since I do use both.

The numbers are completely believable if you follow that sort of music or have any pulse on that culture.

If there's something I really love that is only on digital I'll probably buy it. I predict the new Star Trek series might end up that way, plus various smaller movies over the coming years. I don't think I'll have the collector mindset with digital the way I do with discs though.

Trouble is that with digital you are only purchasing a long term lease. They can take it away from you or alter the title on their whim. You own nothing.

I know that. That's why I dislike it and said I'd only get what I legit have to have on digital. Maybe I wrote it weird.

I really don't know how I'm going to handle the digital transition. I definitely don't see myself collecting anymore. Which is a bummer. I just can't imagine paying similar prices to physical media and getting nothing tangible in return.

Unless I've missed something, there are only 20 million subscribers on Apple Music. Every single one of them would have had to stream the album 15 times. Do I believe that? No.

Is this thread about physical versus digital releases or is this thread about UNFORGIVEN and it being a proper 4K transfer?
Stay on topic.

I took it as it was 300 mil on all services but that Apple had the 24 hour record

"In the US, More Life was streamed 384.8 million times on all services in its first week, setting a new record — previously held by Views — and earning the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart with 505,000 units.

After setting a record with 89.9 million streams in its first 24 hours on Apple’s streaming service — over 33 million streams ahead of Sheeran’s Divide in its first 24 hours on Spotify, which has around 80 million more users — it’s clear Drake and his favorite music service have cracked the streaming formula.

So how did Apple manage to break a record with an album that's also available on Spotify, with only 20 million users compared to Spotify’s 100 million?"

Do you care more about bullsh*t from Apple sh*t or Unforgiven being given a proper 4K remaster?

Any updates to this release? I'm a tad concerned because the preorder has been pulled from Amazon.

Something I just noticed as well when I was going to order it to get a add-on item to ship.
