Maybe somebody can help me..I ordered CHUD and Diamond Guys Vol 1 (along with others) during the target sale about 2 months ago. One has a damaged case/art and is still sealed and the other I opened not realizing the art had a 1/2" tear on the spine. Do you guys think I could get these replaced through arrow or get replacement cover arts? Should I use product@arrowfilms.co.uk for USA products also?

After 3 years Arrow has yet to get any real access to the Hollywood studios in the US. It seems more likely to me that we see a Shout Select release of Ronin in the US and an Arrow release in the UK.

Should this trend be about to change, Ronin would sure be a nice way to start!

Vamp could have been good with more Grace Kelly Jones (D-OH!), but I found it quite meh, a one-time watch.

In advance of the next batch of announcements (hopefully next week) I thought I'd post an updated version of this. As a bit of fun I've also included a few wild rumours and rumblings I've come across on various forums. Obviously a number of these are entirely unsubstantiated and may be utter nonsense (I can't vouch for the credibility of these individuals), so take them with a pinch of salt until further notice. If you've come across anything else do let me know, I'll try and keep this updated:

CONFIRMED

Arrow Video

The Thing (UK-only) (Source - Arrow)

The Crazies (Source - Arrow)

Season of the Witch (1973) (Source - Arrow)

Cat O'Nine Tails (4K Restoration) (UK-only) (Source - Alan Jones; tweet subsequently deleted)

Miracle Mile (UK-only) (Source - Steve De Jarnett via IanSchultz23)

Basket Case (New Restoration) (US-only) (Source - Frank Henenlotter via PrestonXI)

Quote:
I met Frank Henenlotter last weekend at NJ Horror Con and he told me that Arrow will be doing a new Blu Ray of BASKET CASE once the MOMA restoration is complete. He said there will be new bonus features, including an early film of his that he seemed to feel was not very good.
Sister Street Fighter Trilogy (Source - Marc Walkow via ouchmyfacehurts)

Quote:
I was fortunate enough to attend a free screening of Wolf Guy in Philadelphia. It was run as part of a film festival. The guy who curates arrow's Japanese releases was there to promote it. And I have no qualms with divulging that arrow are going to be releasing the SISTER STREET FIGHTER trilogy.
Hounds of Love (UK-only) (Source - Fran Simeoni)

The Endless (UK-only) (Source - Arrow)

Blade of the Immortal (UK-only) (Source - Arrow)

The Villainess (UK-only) (Source - Arrow)

Arrow Academy

La Chinoise (Source - Watershed)

After the Storm (UK-only) (Source - Arrow)

Ismael's Ghosts (UK-only) (Source - Fran Simeoni)

HINTS/TEASES

A number of directors behind future Academy releases:

Quote:
Forthcoming releases include films by Robert Aldrich, Federico Fellini, Georges Franju, Jean Gremillon, Joseph H Lewis, Ermanno Olmi, Elio Petri, Francesco Rosi, Roberto Rossellini, Billy Wilder, Kiju Yoshida and more!
(SourceArrow Academy Booklet; the Lewis title now known to be Terror in a Texas Town; the Aldrich title The Big Knife; the Gremillon title The Love of a Woman; the Franju title Spotlight on a Murderer; the Olmi title The Legend of the Holy Drinker. The Petri title could be Property is No Longer a Theft, given that it came out around the same time as the booklet. Since the booklet was seemingly a primer aimed at US customers, the Yoshida release is probably the Yoshida: Love and Anarchism set, and the Petri title Three Brothers or/and The Assassin. This would leave only Fellini, Rossellini and Wilder unaccounted for. That said, it's of course possible that more than one title by said directors may be released)

A ‘staggering amount of Italian releases for 2017’ (with specific confirmation of gialli and Italian Gothic being among them) (SourceFran Simeoni x2)

Tying in with the Italian theme, separate confirmation of more Spaghetti Westerns (Source - Arrow and Fran Simeoni)

Also on the subject of Italian films, this tweet from Fran Simeoni:

Quote:
Woohoo just signed three Italian classics, expect one old favourite in 4K and two first to Blu-ray next year #ArrowVideo
Providing the hint was about Arrow specifically (it certainly was in part), ‘11 Japanese films, dating from 1964-1978, all for Blu-ray release in 2017. Maybe more’ (while Marc Walkow has provided extras for other companies, including Criterion, some of these releases will undoubtedly come from Arrow. Nine are now known to be Wolfguy: Enraged Lycanthrope, Cops vs. Thugs, Doberman Cop, the New Battles Without Honor and Humanity series and the Sister Street Fighter Trilogy) (SourceMarc Walkow)

Presumably relating to the above in large part, ‘more Miike, more Fukasaku, Sonny Chiba and more’ (unknown yet if there is more of these three to come) (SourceMarc Walkow; further confirmation of upcoming Chiba from Walkow and also Arrow - the statement 'some Chiba stuff' certainly hints at a few titles, but more than two?)

Continuing with Walkow, which again almost certainly aligns with the above, Miike titles aside:

Quote:
I’ve communicated with the acquisitions team there about dozens and dozens of recommendations, some of them realistic and some of them not. I’m happy to say that Arrow has another deal with Toei in the works, for about a dozen additional titles from the ’60s and ’70s, most of them Blu-ray premieres and many of them never before released on video with English subtitles. I’ve already started doing interviews for that batch, all of which will be out in 2017
(SourceMarc Walkow Interview)

The remaining two (?) titles from the current Toei deal could well be Wolves, Pigs and Men and Hokoriku Proxy War based on this:

Quote:

DOBERMAN COP, NEW BATTLES WITHOUT HONOR, COPS VS THUGS, the presumed and almost 100% sure going to happen WOLVES, PIGS, & MEN. However, there was actual footage from HOKORIKU PROXY WAR, so that makes me believe that Arrow is releasing this as well. The numbers don't quite add up to 11 as it would be 12 films as the other films in the Toei deal are believed to be MESSAGE FROM SPACE and THE SISTER STREET FIGHTER FILMS, but it might have been a mistake on Marc Walkow's Tweet and might have thought HOKORIKU came out in 1978.

Either way, I think HOKORIKU PROXY WAR is also coming from Arrow as the Fukasaku films that Arrow doesn't have were represented via stills in the essay.
Takashi Miike being interviewed for 'several upcoming releases' (unclear if there are other 'releases' beyond the Dead or Alive Trilogy and the Black Society Trilogy) (Source - Fantasia Film Festival Instagram)

More Sci-fi (presumably including but not limited to The Thing) (SourceArrow and Fran Simeoni)

At least one Willem Dafoe film (possibly two, but it’s fair to assume the hint took into account the then-imminent release of To Live and Die in L.A.) (SourceFran Simeoni)

More Brian Yuzna (likely either Necronomicon or a UK-only release of Beyond Re-Animator) (SourceHorrorhound Magazine Interview)

Scream Bloody Murder (Sourcethe figure in the AHP logo looks to be based on an image from the Scream Bloody Murder poster; could be coincidence, or it may well end up in a future installment of the series)

Another ‘Japanese’ Academy collection along the lines of Yoshida (Source - Fran Simeoni x2)

Fran Simeoni’s ‘favourite horror film’ coming to Arrow Video UK (you’ll find Fran’s list here; Eraserhead seems most likely, especially given it’s a UK-only release and a Universal title) (SourceFran Simeoni)

RUMOURED TITLES

Insiders

Killer Klowns From Outer Space (4K Restoration) (SourceCalum Waddell)

Blood Harvest (SourceCalum Waddell)

Silent Madness 3-D (SourceCalum Waddell, but he hasn't confirmed if Arrow were successful in their efforts and this was some time ago now)

Eating Raoul (UK-only) (Source – This one is currently pretty speculative; a Mark Kermode blog (from 03:13) credits the film to Arrow Video, but this might not confirm anything given that the title was released on DVD by Arrow over 15 years ago. Kermode however mentions that he 'had to watch it again recently', which has led some to speculate that he may be involved in a forthcoming Arrow release)

The Haunting of Julia (AKA Full Circle) (Source – An individual researching the film for a magazine article recently revealed some potential news regarding Arrow's interest in this title in this forum post:

Quote:
I have been researching this film for some time for an upcoming magazine feature in the UK's Dark Side magazine. I have interviewed the likes of Richard Loncraine, Peter Fetterman, Peter Hannan, Colin Towns etc and found some fascinating material regarding the original version of the film (the version that screened at Cannes in 1977).

Anyway, what I can tell you is that Arrow are indeed circling the film after the negatives etc were found in a Technicolour vault. The issue seems to be the rights - everything is there for a full-scale restoration, but Technicolour will not offer up the goods until they get proof of ownership. This is proving particularly problematic, as so many companies/parties were involved, many which have since been liquidated - Classic Films etc. I know Fetterman and Loncraine are working on this and I have offered my assistance.
For an update, see here. It's currently unknown if Arrow are still interested or would be able to release it if the BFI are successful in their efforts.

Speculation

A Bucket of Blood (SourceHere; while the film is public domain, MisterLime has said that the rights to the MGM materials are with a label; Arrow seems the obvious bet, with others presumably unlikely to bother with a title already released by another company)

Four of the Apocalypse (Source – might be inferred from this post)

4K Restorations of House By the Cemetery, The Beyond and City of the Living Dead (UK-only) (SourceHere; bolstered by recent tweets from Calum Waddell, who seems convinced that Arrow will be 're-doing' their Fulci titles at some point, in which case we can probably elevate this one beyond the crazy speculation stage)

And potentially in relation to all of the above Fulci titles (and others), this tease

I didn't realise Nine Tails was pretty much confirmed as the third Argento title getting the 4K treatment. Blegh! I like the film, but I had my heart set on Inferno.

Just noticed that Calum Waddell has today tweeted about Arrow 're-doing' City of the Living Dead and also House by the Cemetery, so there could well be merit in those remastered Fulci rumours:

nice to see he still holds the grudge

Code Red announced that they are releasing City of the Living Dead under the title The Gates of Hell, so that'll be UK only unless this is another Pit Stop situation.

Arrow announced final specs for Brain Damage on Facebook:

Quote:
IT’S A HEADACHE FROM HELL!

From Frank Henenlotter, the man behind such cult horror favourites as Basket Case and Frankenhooker, comes Brain Damage – the ultimate head-trip, now finally on Blu-ray!
Meet Elmer. He’s your local, friendly parasite with the ability to induce euphoric hallucinations in his hosts. But these LSD-like trips come with a hefty price tag. When young Brian comes under Elmer’s addictive spell, it’s not long before he finds himself scouring the city streets in search of his parasite’s preferred food source – brains!
Featuring late TV horror host John Zacherley as the voice of Elmer, Brain Damage boasts some of the most astonishing bad taste gore-gags ever realized, including the notorious “brain-pulling sequence” and a blow-job that ends with a distinctly unconventional climax.

I can't take a tweet (or a post) that wishes a label like Arrow vanish seriously (or the other guy who said he hasn't bothered with Arrow since the went to dual format WTF) but it's nice to know these two Fulci favorites are (sort of) confirmed. I'll be grabbing both plus Code Red's edition of COTLD. Can never have too much Fulci

there was big outcry when Criterion went dual format, and i don't understand it. sure, i never watch the DVD unless it has something exclusive on it, but who cares?

With Criterion, the outcry was more about the releases turning into digipacks and taking up too much space. I personally liked the digipacks though, most were very well designed IMHO.

The Slayer is happening. Arrow is presenting the film at the Texas Frightmare convention. (in addition to Brain Damage):

The trailer doesn't do much for me. I'm on the fence.

Arrow is also hosting their own panel, which I'm sure they'll talk about their releases and reveal a few forthcoming releases:

Anyone in Texas wanna attend?

Dual format is also brutal when it comes to boxsets. Imagine how much more compact Zatoichi or Demy would have been without all those dvds. The Criterion releases of both are at least the size of a shoebox.
