That article states:
Quote:
Both discs are from Universal, one of only three studios that have committed to releasing 4K Blu-rays with Dolby Vision - the other two are Lionsgate and Warner.
Considering this is getting released by Paramount here in the States, I wonder what their source is.

I hope this is true, but I'd like a more reliable source before I believe it.

That article is wrong and assuming a lot of things. Despicable Me was discovered here: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...1#post13409101

The Inside CI article was based on that post, which was mentioned here (read the rest of the thread): https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...8#post13434048

Then What Hifi poorly summarized that article.

So far, no studio has confirmed Dolby Vision disc titles yet. Universal hasn't even confirmed Despicable Me. It is likely that Ghost in the Shell will get a DV disc, but it is not fact yet.

All i uncovered was dolby vision in cinemas

Currently only three studios have committed to releasing 4K discs with Dolby Vision HDR: Universal, Lionsgate and Warner. Studio support for Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos continues to grow, at least theatrically.

New Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision titles upcoming include: Life, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, Baywatch, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Annabelle 2, The LEGO NINJAGO Movie, Blade Runner 2049, Justice League, Power Rangers, Ghost in the Shell, The Fate of the Furious, Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, Alien: Covenant, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Baywatch, Wonder Woman, The Mummy, Cars 3, Transformers: The Last Knight, Spider-Man: Homecoming, War for the Planet of the Apes, Atomic Blonde and The Dark Tower.

Dolby Vision? If Dolby is smart and strategy tried against UHD disc use HDR or fee pay loyal.

DV Streaming make profile by Dolby.

Who needs Dolby Vision when we already have HDR?

Well, if you want a superior HDR format, you might want to pull for Dolby Vision.

Especially as TVs continue to introduce wider color depth and deeper black levels heading into the next 5-7 years of panel R&D.

Haven't seen the animes yet (about to), but I feel this is quite a good film. I followed the whole whitewashing controversy (which is actually addressed in a meta way in the film, which I appreciated, yet is seen as even more whitewashy by some), and it's unfortunate really.

Diversity is important, I abide by it, but the fact of the matter is: this film doesn't get made without Scarlet in the role, simple as that. And even with that, the film is going to lose dough (early reports of 60 M+, a bit early considering Japan just opened, and China is next).

But, yeah, studios feel they need to attach a star, without that, the film would probably had needed a tiny budget in the mid range, and that would have been a shame.

I'm sure that, compared to the anime films & series, this is pretty surface level, and yet it still really feels like a niche thing, which is also a reason for the small appeal. I didn't feel it was a dumb, pretty shell of a film.

Visually & aurally, it's really insane, MPC & Weta deserve some love when awards season hits, this is to me possibly as iconic as the Blade Runner universe. The giant holograms are really a great visual concept, the Alexa 65 really sings as well. The sound design is off the charts great, Mansell & Balfe's score is great.

Anyway, immediately felt at ease with Scarlet in the role, the rest of the cast is solid, the story seems streamlined but I feel it works, eye popping action as well, interesting themes, Sanders has an excellent eye too, let's not forget Jess Hall's great work.

I'm assuming this is a 4K DI, this disc is sure to be a reference.

The controversy was ridiculous because anime doesn't use straight-up Asian features for the Major anyway. Japanese animation and video games rarely do.

Agreed. Say what you like about the quality of the movie, there was no need for the casting controversy.

To say the Major is not Asian is silly, if you have seen the movie you know what I'm saying.

Ironically, literally whitewashed within the plot of the movie.

That aside. It's an OK movie. Certainly great looking and would probably look stunning in 4k. That being said, this movie seems to annoy me more every time I think about it. Maybe because the original material set a high bar as far as science fiction stoytelling while the script and plot to this was pretty generic. Almost reminds me of Robocop.

At least with Great Wall which was a beautiful looking film, I can enjoy it as a gorgeous looking B movie.

And right now it feels weird I would be less hesitant buying Great Wall than Ghost in the Shell.

I wouldn't recommend following that site for it's views on 3d. It has been rather poor over the years making recommendations, has a poor thought process for 3d and hasn't gotten any better over time.

Also all this nonsense about whitewashing whilst we see people recommend black actors for Bond, yet those same people don't say a thing there. Within this universe there is no reason for Major in her artificial body to be of any particular race, it can be anything they like, and if they so desired could even be changed multiple times in a film like this (spoilers for original film ahead)
[Show spoiler]for example in the original film she is put into a new body in the finale, which to me makes arguing that she has to be of a particular race completely silly
. Really silly that people tried to make such a big deal over this casting.
