Yes, stuff like family sharing. I can share my movies with anybody I want, all over the country, and they can share their purchases back. Stuff like D2D also has evolved to help people switch old fashioned discs to the more convenient UV format. Many people buy discs with instawatch (Vudu copy) then sell the disc(s) and any other digital copy included. Yeah, perks like that.

However, as the young crowd who are already comfortable with digital, age, and have more disposable income, will purchase digitally imo. Disc I believe, will become a niche collector thing. The only caveat to the Netflix deal is that they have slowly gone from all movies and no TV, to much less movies and much more TV. A trend that if continues should increase rentals and purchases. Studios can help themselves by keeping all but low sales movies off Netflix, and they control that. |

So, I see Subscription replacing Digital HD and forced ads becoming the norm. Movies will lose their value to such a degree that the industry will have to scrape the barrel with subscription fees to at least make something. Same as the music industry. Of course, the other elephant in the room is the apparent lack of interest in films by the very young. That is a great great worry and some other poster made that very point. (I happen to agree) |

I've started to use digital to gain the films that are harder to find in HD here in the states. That is the best part of digital.
![]() It is also much easier to get free movies since sometimes people offer their codes. I still prefer physical releases though. |

You would think that Fox would respond by making buying The X-Files and Buffy less expensive to induce former streaming customers to buy, but I see little evidence of that, at least on iTunes.
