The window does not stay up all of the time. It pops up when they have something to interject and then goes away. I reccomend watching it all the way without the pop up first, then rewatch it with the pop up as you will not be able to hear the show when the pop up window is active. I have not tried the other pop up with the time line. I will try that the next time I view it.

Also, the video from the PIP seems to be 16:9 ratio compressed to 4:3. I guess there's no way to fix that...

I did notice "clayface" whenever DNR is applied. I was looking for even finer detail on my 92" screen but at least it's a definite upgrade over the DVD version. It's too bad Warner is going DNR crazy with their releases these days.

Hmm, don't remember it working that way on my system. I'll have to check it out again.

You know I went to Best Buy to pick up Meet the Robinson's on Blu (for my wife) and I was about to buy this.
I remember when this series was on HBO a long time ago, man it was great.
I put it back down because of the price.

Now after reading this thread I want to buy it again!

I bought Band of Brother on Veterans Day. I had only seen one or two episodes on a few weekends when we got free HBO.

Wow! I totally agree with the Blu-ray.com review. 5 Stars is still not enough.

I am totally impressed by all aspects of this set. For the Amazon price of under $55 this is a real no-brainer. I know we say this alot in this forum, but everybody who owns a Blu-ray player should INDEED have this series.

I have no buyer's remorse at all. I get tears in my eyes each time I watch an episode. It is like watching a 10 hour version of Saving Private Ryan.

Run, don't walk, and get this series!

Just ordered this today, and going by the review and everyone's take on it, I'm glad I did. Have never seen any of the episodes, so I hope I'm in for a real treat.

Default Amazon deal

Amazon's got a great price on this set for Cyber Monday:

http://www.amazon.com/Band-Brothers-...8147092&sr=8-1

If you already purchased through Amazon and are within 30 days of it being shipped, you can request the price difference.

No excuse not to snatch it up now...

Still the release of the year as I've already have TDK and it is close but with all you get and for the price, BoB wins!

Wow. You're going to love this. The last line of the series...just wow. I watched this on HBO-HD when it first aired and I was glad I watched it alone (my wife at the time had no interest). My father, who served briefly in the Pacific at the end of WWII, had died about a year earlier. When the last line was spoken...let's just say I was a wreck for quite a while afterward. It hit me hard.

After "Roots," probably the best miniseries ever made.

I have to agree with you.... I must have watched this series over a dozen times (on DVD before I picked up the blu version), and that last line gets me EVERY time...

I was avoiding purchasing this film because I was skeptical of the production value of a mini-series, but after viewing it I can say without hesitation that this film trumps Saving Private Ryan in my book. If work hadn't gotten in the way I would have watched ten straight hours of the movie.

So I am really thinking of picking this one up.
I have the DVD set and am wondering if this is really a "night vs day" kind of difference. I cannot really remember watching it as I've only seen it once so far and that was shortly after it was released on DVD. I remember it being very well done though...

Your thoughts?

I haven't seen the original to compare it to the blu, but it's without question one of the better video transfers I've seen.

Doesn't sound like the series left a lasting impression on you. Upgrading to Blu-ray isn't going to change the content.

Unlike you, I was chomping at the bit to get the next format whenever it came out for better A/V quality.

To answer your question, it's probably a mandatory upgrade visually if your screen size is larger than 50".

My Ratings (92" projection screen):

Movie: 10/10
Video: 7/10 (I knocked it 2 points for the DNR, very noticeable to me)
Audio: 9/10

Although I have SPR at the top of my all time fav list..I have to agree with you here.. this is more true to life without the Hollywood sob story involved and is by far the greatest WWII projected take I have ever seen.
