Your trade-in value is right around $15,000. I would find a used car, about 2-3 years old. Like a 2004-2005.

You need to trade it in for a car that's worth $8,000-$10,000, IMO.

I don't know too much about this stuff, because I paid cash for my $8,000 car. So I didn't take a loan out or anything.
Kelley Blue Book is rarely accurate on trade in value.

My guess is you're going to get screwed on trade-in and you'll be stuck with your Hyundai unless you're willing to walk funny after you leave the dealership. Trading in a car with a terrible resale value in terrible economic times is a recipe for disaster.

Your best bet is selling it used yourself and then getting what you want after that.

You're going to add FIVE THOUSAND dollars to whatever you buy, just so you can save what...$300 per year in gas?

And if you bought your car for 28k, had it for a year, and its only worth 15k now, then you're going to be tacking closer to TEN THOUSAND dollars onto whatever you get. Depending on what figure Mope is using (dealer trade in, retail sale, or private party) you could be into the teens.

You should seriously rethink what you're planning to do. Decisions like this is a big part of the reason why people are losing their homes, can't pay their bills, and are facing all kinds of other financial disasters.

According to my parents, yes, I'm only 21, says you would be responsible for that $450 a month payment. Of course this depends on how much you are still responsible on the loan.

If you trade your Tiburon in for a lesser amount of car, you would be getting a cheaper car, and still paying close to $450 a month for a lesser valued car.

I guess my advice is to get a second job.

Thumbs up The Fit!

I'm paying that because i got a 07 through the first time buyers program at $350 a month. When the new style of the 08s came out i went all out and got the one with the works which made it $450.

Right now I got the Honda Fit, Civic, and the Lancer on my mind.
Since you mention it, I'll recommend the Fit.

I bought the 2007 Sport Fit (manual trans) when they first came out.

It has been one of the best cars I've owned. It's an inexpensive but extremely well-made vehicle that does everything well and gets great gas mileage.

After 2.5 years of ownership . . .
  • I've had no mechanical problems whatsoever
  • I average 37-38 mpg and pure highway trips average 40-44 mpg
  • No rattles. Fairly comfortable and quiet.
  • Incredible amount of room for cargo or 4 people
  • Excellent resale value - one of the highest of any car
  • Numerous awards - rated the highest mpg vs cost of any car by Consumer Reports; 3 years in Car & Driver's top 10

There may not be many 2008's anywhere, but the 2009's are even better than my model. I'm thinking of trading in and getting that next year.

Then I recommend you go the late shift if you want to save your credit.

My wife wants to get a Fit next eyar. Right now she doesn't have her own car. It's really the only car she's interested in.

If you do get one, get the rain guards and mudflaps. Those look awesome with them on.
