Did the same thing with Covenant, too. And thank God. Having now seen all the trailer/TV spots after watching the movie, there's only like 20 minutes they didn't spoil lol
There's no way that any trailer can even remotely scratch the surface of what a movie like Interstellar is about

To be fair, trailers in the 70s basically gave away the entire film at times.
But the concept of a trailer is to get you into the theater to see it, however they can.

Is the 70mm being shown in the IMAX screen?
Hey it won't be on an IMAX screen. I'm an IMAX fan, not so much a 3D, hence the thought of giving the 70mm a chance. Wondering if it was not filmed specifically for 70mm, if it'll be worth it. Thanks for your take on it!

I saw Kong on 70mm and it was a great experience, high quality presentation and they even did a short overture with curtains opening at the end (probably just my theater). Still, I'm planning on getting the 3D blu of Kong to see that format, and will probably do IMAX laser 3D for Wonder Woman.
So still worth the experience to see it in 70mm even if it was shot on 35mm in your opinion?

The difference then was that people were only watching trailers when they went to the movies. They weren't watching it online whenever they want, plus have people posting screenshots and dissecting everything about it, then seeing it ad nauseum whenever they go the movies, and THEN finally seeing the movie itself.

Exactly. They half expected you to forget half of the trailer by the time you saw the movie a few months later, having only seen it once or maybe twice without specific planning to do so.

Yeah, if you're not interested in the 3D version at all, I would say go with 70mm. Even as a blow up presentation (which a lot of classic films like Doctor Zhivago, Empire Strikes Back, Aliens, etc. got) you should still see an improvement in image quality over standard formats, and if nothing else, it's rare to be able to see new releases on actual film prints.

Snatched and Baywatch have tanked

King Arthur is a disaster

Alien Covenant and the latest Pirates have underperformed ( and in the case of the former, badly)

I've been saying for months now to friends and co-workers that audiences are tired of the endless sequels and reboots and this will be the summer where it all comes to a head.

Wonder Woman is positioned to break this dire box-office trend and become a bona-fide blockbuster.

We're ready, baby!

I am hearing nothing but good things about this film. This might be the one that saves the dismal DC franchise.

No, people are just tired bad movies. GOTG 2 and Logan are sequels that did very well, so Wonder Woman isn't going to break any "dire trend."

I'm referring to the "dire trend" thus far in summer movies ( which, calendar be damned, started off with Snatched and King Arthur) which have indeed been filled with lousy box-office returns, GOTG 2 excluded.

And since when has a lousy movie been precluded from being a box-office hit? They're legion.

God, I'm hoping this is the first DCEU movie I love. I love Captain America: The First Avenger, so the comparisons have only made me more optimistic.

I'm 2/3 with you. The part of BvS that cemented it's greatness was when Batman branded a sex trafficker. That being said, Gadot was icing on the cake.

What franchise would that be?

After MOS,BVS and SS the odds were in WW favour. They can't all be disappointing.

Hopefully this is the start of something good as it would appear we are getting a self contained story. BVS and SS felt rushed; an attempt to catch/emulate Marvel?

MoS is my pick for best CBM of the 10's so far. Only Logan and the Cap trilogy really come close. Liked BvS quite a bit as well. The DC movies have been divisive so far but the ones that have been good have been really good IMHO.

(Suicide Squad was crap tho)
