But it doesn't look amazing. The creatures don't look as good as half the cgi in similar released titles.
Yeah, the color palette looked outstanding, but that's his thing (the director)

Didn't even get far enough to see the monsters haha, but as far the UHD looked, it was gorgeous.

I have had this sitting on my desk for a couple weeks. It's the only one in my unwatched pile. Hopefully, I will get to it in a few days.

Yeah the CG is so soft. It still looks amazing design wise though, very pretty images, but not the best technically.

Right. As soon as the creatures came on, the wife and I were like, "Wait! What? That looks a little cheesy..a little TV-quality-ish, not movie quality!"
I just assumed that the budget wasn't too large (or as large as other cgi films).

And as soon as we turned off the Blu-ray, and switched the TV input to "Cable Box", HBO or Starz was on and just happened to be playing some similar type fantasy/monster/creature film (something I never saw) and the creatures and motion (all the cgi) looked soooo much better!

This looks great in 3D, the 3D is so strong and the director really knows how to make great use of it. I think 3D sells the slightly wonky CG a lot better too.

Budget was $150 million. I, too, wasn't too impressed with film when I saw it in theater. The fact that the reviews of the disc's PQ and SQ are so good I may buy this later when price drops.
