Educated guess but I think Criterion may have Silence of the Lambs. It just had a 4K remaster produced, they've released it before, and they were pushing the commentary when promoting Filmstruck (when it launched). It's just a matter of when.

I hope we get more info about this "recent correspondence involving a potentially big title for next year (if they can get it)" project that Cliff talked about on the podcast. Horror's Hallowed Grounds apparently shot somewhere that was in NOES (wishful thinking due to Warner though).

Last night I saw The Food of the Gods and Frogs. Frogs was really bad; on the other hand, The Food of the Gods was freaking great. Anyone have any recommendations similar to it? Really like the special effects. Tonight, probably, I'll watch Empire of the Ants.

Horror's Hallowed Grounds has shot several locations for the Nightmare on Elm Street Series. I'd need to double check but I believe their most recent shoot was for locations found within A Nightmare on Elm Street 3. Both the original and part 2 have already had shoots so they are slowly working their way through the series. They frequently feature their location shoots in Horror Hound Magazine. When an announcement has already been made they'll refer to an upcoming Blu Ray release (as they did with Carrie).

I don't know, I prefer FROGS way over FOTG.

Sexy shirtless young Sam Elliott vs. goofy and unattractive Marjoe Gortner? Frogs wins.

Legendary Ray Milland vs. Ralph Meeker (or even Ida Lupino) - no contest. Frogs wins.

Joan Van Ark vs. Pamela Franklin - kind of a draw except Franklin has said she hated FOTG and mostly retired because of it. So Joan wins.

Silliness in both films - a draw.

Poster art - both are great - a draw.

Animals being mistreated and KILLED? Frogs - none. FOTG - many.

That last point definitely makes me prefer Frogs more, as well as Sam Elliott.

Empire of the Ants is great fun. If you like the 'Nature Fights Back' style - Tentacles and Up from the Depths both have their moments.

I just watched the Hellhole blu that I bought during the sale and Im sad to say I FREAKIN loved it. Ive seen alot of negative comments but it was a blind buy and Im so happy I took a chance on it. Like seriously its not going to win any awards, dont get me wrong but it was still too fun. Plus I love Woronov and Sharkey is a real trip.

What's the story with My Bloody Valentine? Who has the rights, and what are the chances it gets a new, better Blu-ray release of the uncut version?

Looks like we have to hope for a Paramount deal??

While all your points are valid, Frogs just has a bunch of regular sized critters, while Food of the Gods is LOADED with silly giant animal FX, both of the full-size model variety and the terrible trick photography variety. Effects like the giant chicken puppets and especially the rats crawling on the matchbox cars are hilarious and far, far beyond anything in Frogs.

They're both great! Frogs is better paced and made and has a lot more entertainment with the people, but Food of the Gods has all those great (ridiculous) FX.

I really didn't like Empire of the Ants. Conceptually it sounds great, but in execution I was just bored. Tentacles had its moments.

I'll have to check this out, the name Woronov makes me want to see just about anything! What does she do in it? Does she get to be her cranky later-period self?

With Scream taking a break from tomorrow (see Facebook), it looks like we won't be getting any October announcements until next Wednesday at the earliest, which is a little surprising. I expect Scream will be fortunate if the titles don't leak on Amazon before then. Even so, if they don't announce them all (I'm guessing there will be at least 4) by the end of next week I can't see them not being on Amazon by the 10th.

The upside is that the wait between these and the SDCC announcements will be quite brief (a couple of weeks).

Since Universal will be re-releasing the Chucky box set to include Cult, I guess we shouldn't be expecting any announcement from Scream of Child's Play 2 and 3.

Not necessarily. Universal's releases would be part of a box set and perhaps not available separately. This would allow for Scream Factory to release 2 and 3 as stand-alone releases.

And even that may not matter at all. Remember Universal's The People Under the Stairs was released not long before Scream Factory announced their Collector's Edition disc. Both were in print at the same time, even after Scream Factory's version came out.

In the wild? Is that code for Wal-Mart or something?

Any physical store, it was used. Had to get it regardless because I adore the special effects.

Occasionally Wal*Mart will stock well-known catalog titles on Blu-ray, Ben, Halloween 2 and Mad Max are household names.

Most of the time they only sell crappy DVD boxsets with dated transfers and new slipcovers.
