to elaborate: I def don't think it'll be for everyone. the dialogue is hella clunky as is the central romance. still loved every minute

it's driven by the same good-hearted, humane philosophies that drove THE FIFTH ELEMENT. and every single set piece is wonderfully baroque

mixed on Valerian, BUT: this movie is god damn SPECTACULAR to look at. if you're going to fork out extra $ for 3D, do it for this.

Now that the embargo is lifted I am free to say that VALERIAN surpassed all expectations. The best blockbuster of the summer.

Dug opening sequence of #Valerian, has amazing 3D look. Flavor of FIFTH ELEMENT but not the same payoff. Luc Besson fans are gonna luv it.

#Valerian embargo is up. I really liked it. A fun, visually stunning sci-fi adventure. We need more space operas that are this colorful.

#VALERIAN is one of the most bracing, vivacious, alive sci-fi films in years, and may be one of the most electrically gorgeous ever.

#Valerian is near masterful and one of the best of the summer. Disney WISHES Star Wars was this good. Colorful and gorgeous love love love!!

#Valerian Dane and Cara are shockingly great, lots of chemistry. Script was solid and engaging. Praying for LOTS of sequels.

And WHATEVER YOU DO, if you think you even MIGHT want to SOMEDAY see #Valerian, then see it on the big screen. Wow.

I just saw #Valerian. It is one of the most spectacularly gorgeous movies I have ever seen. Cara Delevingne steals the whole film.

I had such a great time at #Valerian. For realsies, it's a fresh and fun space fantasy adventure. I really hope audiences embrace it!

I love it when we get a year that has an embarrassment of movie riches. If awards season is as consistent as blockbuster season, this is going to be a damn good year.

Holy crap! Luc Besson has done it again. Another classic sci-fi adventure. A wonderful imagination. It'll be compared to The Fifth Element and I give that one the edge because the leads and chemistry are better.

Rihanna? Like most people I rolled my eyes hard when she showed up in the trailer. She actually has the best scene in the movie. Trailers do not do this movie justice at all.

This had my favorite intro ever for a space epic. Elegant, simplistic and earnest, it manages to tell the backstory within the first few minutes without a single word. Master storyteller at work 😀

Tony, you made me very curious. I'm not a big fan of 'The Fifth Element', but the source material of 'Valerian' is pretty great and I'm a fan of Dane DeHaan. Was going to check it out already, but now I'm kinda enthusiastic too.

The first time I saw The Fifth Element, I thought it was good, but nothing special. Over the years it has grown on me and now it's one of my favorites.

I disliked it more everytime I saw it. A lot of the characters were way too cartoony for me, the tone going in all directions. And the way it was filmed, I was constantly aware they were walking around on a set. It took me out of the movie multiple times. Might give it a new chance one day, though. It's been 15+ years ago since the last time I saw it.

This is one of those cases where they didn't put the best parts in the trailer. They saved the best parts for the movie.

The Fifth Element is a different kind of movie. It has a certain charm to it and a uniqueness. There is something I like about the way it is presented, the way it flows, that I just can't define but I love.

Wow, that's what you call an advance screening. I don't think it's released in the states until January 2018. This must be a test screening I take it.
It's always cool to see what they've changed by release time. I remember seeing The Cable Guy and then re-watching it theatrically and noticing several altered or removed scenes. The biggest being the end where Jim Carrey actually died.
