The first half of #Valerian is visually stunning, gleefully inventive, unpredictable and bonkers insane....
Quote:
Each sequence is filled w/ creatures & concepts you’ve never seen before. #Valerian's 2nd half becomes more formulaic, far less exciting...
Quote:
Despite its problems, #Valerian needs to be experienced in 3D on the biggest screen possible. I want to experience more of this world.
Quote:
#Valerian is the batsh*t kinda sci-fi, stuffed w/ wildly colorful & inventive sequences. Story is OK but some of the action blew my mind 👍
Quote:
oh I saw VALERIAN!! it's one of my favorite movies of the year

to elaborate: I def don't think it'll be for everyone. the dialogue is hella clunky as is the central romance. still loved every minute

it's driven by the same good-hearted, humane philosophies that drove THE FIFTH ELEMENT. and every single set piece is wonderfully baroque
Quote:
mixed on Valerian, BUT: this movie is god damn SPECTACULAR to look at. if you're going to fork out extra $ for 3D, do it for this.
Quote:
Now that the embargo is lifted I am free to say that VALERIAN surpassed all expectations. The best blockbuster of the summer.
Quote:
Dug opening sequence of #Valerian, has amazing 3D look. Flavor of FIFTH ELEMENT but not the same payoff. Luc Besson fans are gonna luv it.
Quote:
#Valerian embargo is up. I really liked it. A fun, visually stunning sci-fi adventure. We need more space operas that are this colorful.
Quote:
#Valerian: Inventive world-building and some awesomely unique set pieces. Runs out of steam eventually, but overall a fun, worthwhile romp.

#Valerian

Quote:
#VALERIAN is one of the most bracing, vivacious, alive sci-fi films in years, and may be one of the most electrically gorgeous ever.
Quote:
#Valerian is near masterful and one of the best of the summer. Disney WISHES Star Wars was this good. Colorful and gorgeous love love love!!
Quote:
#Valerian Dane and Cara are shockingly great, lots of chemistry. Script was solid and engaging. Praying for LOTS of sequels.
Quote:
And WHATEVER YOU DO, if you think you even MIGHT want to SOMEDAY see #Valerian, then see it on the big screen. Wow.

I just saw #Valerian. It is one of the most spectacularly gorgeous movies I have ever seen. Cara Delevingne steals the whole film.

I had such a great time at #Valerian. For realsies, it's a fresh and fun space fantasy adventure. I really hope audiences embrace it!

Probably gonna skip this today because I have passes to another screening that I'm more interested in. But nice to read good things. This always looked like kind of a trainwreck.

I love it when we get a year that has an embarrassment of movie riches. If awards season is as consistent as blockbuster season, this is going to be a damn good year.

Holy crap! Luc Besson has done it again. Another classic sci-fi adventure. A wonderful imagination. It'll be compared to The Fifth Element and I give that one the edge because the leads and chemistry are better.

Rihanna? Like most people I rolled my eyes hard when she showed up in the trailer. She actually has the best scene in the movie. Trailers do not do this movie justice at all.

4.5-5/5

Rihanna is good? That's interesting news. Barbadians gotta represent!
Anyways, the visuals look flawless and 3D MUST BE NEEDED for me.

This had my favorite intro ever for a space epic. Elegant, simplistic and earnest, it manages to tell the backstory within the first few minutes without a single word. Master storyteller at work 😀

Tony, you made me very curious. I'm not a big fan of 'The Fifth Element', but the source material of 'Valerian' is pretty great and I'm a fan of Dane DeHaan. Was going to check it out already, but now I'm kinda enthusiastic too.

The first time I saw The Fifth Element, I thought it was good, but nothing special. Over the years it has grown on me and now it's one of my favorites.

I disliked it more everytime I saw it. A lot of the characters were way too cartoony for me, the tone going in all directions. And the way it was filmed, I was constantly aware they were walking around on a set. It took me out of the movie multiple times. Might give it a new chance one day, though. It's been 15+ years ago since the last time I saw it.

This is one of those cases where they didn't put the best parts in the trailer. They saved the best parts for the movie.

The Fifth Element is a different kind of movie. It has a certain charm to it and a uniqueness. There is something I like about the way it is presented, the way it flows, that I just can't define but I love.

Wow, that's what you call an advance screening. I don't think it's released in the states until January 2018. This must be a test screening I take it.
It's always cool to see what they've changed by release time. I remember seeing The Cable Guy and then re-watching it theatrically and noticing several altered or removed scenes. The biggest being the end where Jim Carrey actually died.
Enjoy the film !!
