The german release uses VC-1 Codec whereas The US Version is in mpeg-2.
Both are region free

I own the german version, the picture is far from perfectm but stil delivers good PQ. In general it is considered a good release.

you can check the region info at www.bluraregioncodes.com and you'' find the detailed information for each version at www.bluray-disc.de
