Thank you, I'm glad to know that. I bought a 52" LCD on Sunday and will likely get a new Onkyo 806 receiver, a PS3 (you know, for the BD) and a new PC for the den too. My son saw the movie Cars playing on the TV and started giggling and told me "We have to get that". I told him it would cut into our toy money at Christmas but he didn't care. So a big TV wins out over more Star Wars Lego sets. |

We just got a Samsung Touch-Of-Color set this week.
While I'm amazed at the PQ, I did find the auto-motion (or motion flow, or motion plus, whatever it's called) to be distracting and to add a weird, video-tape kind of quality to what is being watched... double weird because everything in motion looks like it is gliding on oiled ball-bearings. It's not TOO CLEAR but rather it's TOO FAST. I can see the motion enhancement being a great thing for any situation where you want to see all the details of a very fast moving picture. This would be things like sports, olympics, dance competitions, etc - you will get better detail because you are seeing more frames. But film just does not look right - the motions seem "trite" as if the characters had no mass to them somehow. 24 fps looks like film - and faster frame rates do tend to look "cheap", "documentary" or "video tape" by comparison IMHO. My wife and I are having a disagreement over this... she thinks it looks "cool" with the motion flo on, I think it looks "wrong". Oh boy, is this ever going to be "fun". |
