Well considering it's Microsoft your dealing with who have proven not to be to friendly towards Blu-Ray it's hardly surprising.

Having Vista as your OS does not help things ether. How much RAM comes in these laptop like 2 gig

You need full scalable memory (4 gig) to get it running properly.
