I wonder what's going on with the USPS. A package I was expecting, which was in a distribution facility near me, was inexplicably shipped to a facility near the airport and now has to backtrack. Not a big deal but it's still MIA after 3 days and has had no change in tracking. I don't know where they're hiring these people from.

I received my copy of My Chauffeur last week, I haven't had time to watch it yet but I did watch Red Mob. Well this one is something special, I watched the English version which is badly dubbed in the best possible way. The action is inept at times and absolutely thrilling at others. The helicopter finale was incredible and well worth the excessive run time. It is a bit dry at times and the father/son/friends of father relationship is strange. Overall I really enjoyed it and very happy to own a copy of this on blu. |

I watched 'Horror House on Highway 5' last night. It's these 'WTF did I just watch?' films that VS spends so much time and care with the make them my favourite company. Sure, it's not a great movie, but the fact that a horror fan in Australia gets to watch such a niche release is testament to the top shelf work VS continue to do!

Despite the lovely cover art, I wasn't really interested in My Chauffeur upon its announcement. It seemed tame and bland for Vinegar Syndrome. The thoughts on it I've heard in this thread, particularly Owl's review, have convinced me to pull the trigger on it now before I miss out on that sweet slipcover. I love 80s romantic comedies, the classics and the likes of My Tutor, The Beach Girls, Tomboy as well as less romantic, raunchy teen fare. Gotta love the Crown stuff. Anyway, this sounds like a lot of fun; a light snack of a movie.

As the cat is out of the bag, Dear Dead Delilah is the mystery film I referred to back on page 277. This is a HUGE release for me, one of the unsung greats. A rich mixture of southern gothic, soap opera and proto-slasher. The characters are very well-drawn, their snippy dialogue exchanges making for joyous viewing, but not taking away from the bleak atmosphere and definitely adding to the impact of the kills. I'm thrilled this is in such capable hands.
No one correctly guessed the film, and I suppose House of Death is still a possibility unless stated otherwise, which would make two from my signature. The rumors stem from this post I made in the Arrow thread almost a year ago: Quote:

![]() Not sure if John let the cat out of the bag by mistake or not but I prefer this matter-of-factness about upcoming releases over silly teases. I don't need a release date - confirmation that they have it is good enough. No guessing games or sleepless nights ![]() |

Received my copy of My Chauffeur.
This is a title I have been hoping for on Blu-ray but was not hopeful would ever be released. First the packaging. It is a thing of beauty. The thick slipcover is matte except for the shiny lips, which is a nice touch. The thing just feels luxurious when you are holding it in your hand, its got the feel of a pile of fresh cash. I'd rank the slipcover as one of the top 5 I own, and it might be more towards the top of that list than the bottom. The new cover art captures the sense of the film with a retro 80s vibe. Very classy. I rarely like new cover art, preferring the artwork from the original release, so kudos to the artist. The movie looks fantastic. If you have only ever seen this on VHS, cable or DVD... what a revelation. The original Rhino DVD was awful, dark and murky. The later BCI release looked a bit better, and of course the movie has been rammed on to many a multi-movie pack with little to no care. And of course, finally the film is available on home media in its OAR for the first time. The movie was scanned at 2k and what a 2k scan. I swear, it is still amazing how Vinegar Syndrome manages to to such a great job retaining a natural sense of film grain that some larger studios still have trouble doing to this day. The plot itself is at its heart a love story, not what you might think of as standard Vinegar Syndrome fare. But it is a product of the 80's, very quirky and strange and enjoyable. Watch for Penn and Teller's awful film debut as Bone and Abdul. Watch for the Blue Lady with the Blue Dog. I am very happy that Vinegar Syndrome took a shot at releasing this film. I know it is a little outside the typical genre releases and had to be a bit of an experiment, a bit of a risk, to test the waters and see how sales go. It definitely does not have the built in market that a lot of the horror and (s)exploitation films come with. I still have to delve in to all of the extras, but seriously, who ever thought My Chauffeur would be packed with extras... any extras!? The level of care that went into this release is off the charts all things considered. If you have even the slightest bit of interest in this film, I would say go for the limited edition slipcover release while it is still available. It might take a bit to sell out, but whether it makes it til the Black Friday sale is anyone's guess, but I have a feeling it may sell out sooner rather than later. Highly recommended.
