I'm rewatching all of the films now and never knew that the second commentary track on Thunderball has Mr. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang over the opening credits. Really cool!

That track has been around for almost 25 years. it was introduced on the Laserdisc boxset and the track was carried over to all the dvd releases too.

Default James Bond: The Ultimate Collection (1962-2012) + Volume Collections

L…M…F…A…O. Never knew that. So I can stop cuing up my Best of James Bond 30th anniversary version of that and playing over a speaker while watching the movie.

(though on the CD I think it's in stereo)

In a victory for James Bond completists, a federal judge has refused to dismiss a proposed class action suit alleging that MGM and 20th Century Fox deceptively marketed a James Bond box set.

Mary L. Johnson, of Pierce County, Wash., purchased one of the box sets from Amazon in February of 2016 for $106.44, only to discover that “Casino Royale” (1967) and “Never Say Never Again” (1983) were not included. She filed a lawsuit in April, accusing MGM and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment of violating Washington’s Consumer Protection Act and breach of express warranties.

Judge Ricardo S. Martinez issued a ruling on Thursday dismissing parts of the complaint, but allowing the substance of the allegations to move forward. Martinez’s ruling hinges on the claim that the box set included “all” of the James Bond films.

The defendants claim that the word is open to some interpretation, and qualifies as advertising “puffery” which is not subject to litigation. Johnson’s legal team — from the firms Eisenhower Carlson PLLC, of Tacoma, Wash., and Statman Harris & Eyrich LLC, of Cincinnati, Ohio — countered that there is nothing vague or subjective about the word “all.”

“No reasonable person, unless a James Bond expert, would understand that ‘all’ does not mean all, and ‘every’ means only certain films,” the lawyers wrote.

In his opinion, Martinez declined to dismiss the claim at this stage, and said a jury would have to decide whether the term was misleading.

“A jury must determine whether a reasonable person would expect ‘Casino Royale’ and ‘Never Say Never Again’ to be included in a complete set of James Bond films,” Martinez wrote. “From the Defendants’ perspective, this claim will have to ‘Die Another Day.'”

The judge granted a motion to dismiss parent companies MGM Holdings and 21st Century Fox from the suit, and dismissed a claim of breach of implied warranty of merchantability.

Both of those films suck and are not apart of the official series. How difficult is that to understand?

Yes, I understand NSNA has its fans, but I think it's bad.

This lawsuit is dumb but I do get what he means by “No reasonable person, unless a James Bond expert, would understand that ‘all’ does not mean all, and ‘every’ means only certain films.” I guess future sets will just come with a disclaimer on them.

The judge should be kicked off the bench for writing something so lame.

I know, who would be stupid enough to complain that they didn't get a copy of NSNA and Casino Royale 1967? I'd be sending MGM a "thank you" card.

Wonders never cease, some people are so stupid. Why a court would even entertain this beyond me, but then again nothing surprises me anymore in this day and age!

My comment was in reference to the bolded text, i.e. the lame AF Die Another Day pun.

I watched YOLT again the other night and while I agree with anyone who will point out all its flaws and flubs, in the end I don't give a f u c k about any of them. It's one hell of an entertaining ride and it reminds me of being nine years old again and just Bonding it up with no crap to mar the experience.

When all is said and done, there are really no guilty pleasure Bond films, there are just varying degrees of pleasure Bond films. The discussions and debates are usually worthwhile and often interesting, but they will always pale in comparison to just watching the movies themselves.

I believe the song is out of sync though, I think someone said the big brass sting is meant to match up with the spear being fired and Sean Connery's name appearing, but it's a few seconds off on the alternate audio track.

I love You Only Live Twice. It's fast-paced and entertaining as hell, with great Japanese locales and that lovely and lush John Barry score. Come to think of it, all of the Lewis Gilbert directed Bonds are great, comic-book fun...in my humble opinion, of course.

YOLT is the worst of Connery's original run, but I still love it. Hell I love all the Bond movies, even if some are a lot worse than others. A View to a Kill and Die Another Day might be my bottom two, but either is still way better than mediocre shit like XXX, and way WAY better than true crap like Steele Justice or whatever.

Hmmm. Most I think would pick Diamonds Are Forever as the worst of the EON Connery flicks unless you're talking about the uninterrupted run before Lazenby stepped in for a one-off.

I definitely agree with you about the "bad" Bond films though. I love them all to a certain degree. When you stop to think about it, Bond films are like pizza and sex. Even when it's bad, it's still kinda good!

I love all the Bond films. The music was one of the extra factors for You Only Live Twice when I first saw it on tv in the late 70's.
Seen it many times since then and while I love the Bond 50 boxset and most of the surround remixes they've spoiled You Only Live Twice with the new sound effects which fortunately are not part of the mono track but the new sounds are so distracting.
You won't even notice them unless you know the film very well but the first one is right at the start where the gun barrel opening has an extra "whoosh" added as it opens into the picture.
There are several more.
I believe they also changed the cats meow at the moment as the titles roll on Diamonds are Forever but I don't think there were other similar changes although the music and effects levels have been adjusted on some of the films which can also be annoying. The superb safe cracking sequence on OHMSS is ruined by the music being mixed down almost to invisibility. On the mono track it is very prominent as it should be.
