I just ordered the Arrow Academy set. I've already imported the US releases but this package is worth it to me for the extras, commentaries and hardback book.

I see amz.com is no longer selling Force of Evil, is the US edition going OOP?

Amazon hasn't been consistent with the Olive catalog for quite some time. It's still readily available on Olive's own website as well as other online retailers like DeepDiscount.

Correct Bruce, TCM has aired the restoration of M (1951). However, I still want Criterion to release it in Blu-ray.

Looks like a really nice set, but I own Combo and Force already. Don't think I'll rebuy them.

Secret Beyond the Door is terrible even tho it's a Fritz Lang film with Joan Bennet? I mean, I've never seen it but,

I wouldn't call it "terrible." It's just disappointingly derivative of several other films. It's certainly reasonably well-made and if you've never seen all those plot devices it's ripping off, SECRET BEHIND THE DOOR may seem pretty interesting.

I'm a big Fritz Lang fan, but his career definitely had its shares of highs and lows. For every handful of great films, he made a real turkey. Joan Bennett also isn't my favorite in this; her acting in Lang's Woman in the Window and Scarlet Street works well, but in this, it relies heavily on the pearl clutching histrionics, which quickly grows tiresome.

Speaking of Woman in the Window: a handful of sellers have the excellent official MGM DVD for sale on Amazon for less than $10. That's the lowest price I've seen in ages: link.

Secret Beyond The Door is certainly not Fritz Lang's high point, but IMHO it's still quite an enjoyable movie with some nice cinematography.

In any case, day one for this box. Hopefully more noirs will follow.

First American film Fury, last American film Beyond a Reasonable Doubt. Both Warners - I'd like to see 'em both.

The latter really splits opinion, but I like it.

For anyone who might care, I was the designer of Arrow's film noir boxset.

I only graduated with my graphic design BFA two and a half years ago but I got the job thanks to a well-timed e-mail and my marching order was basically "Saul Bass-style." I watched the films on YouTube - I liked The Big Combo and Dark Mirror, the other two not as much. All told, I did 29 different designs which I'll post on my portfolio page sooner or later. I also suggested some alternate titles for the box which weren't used. I was quite fond of "Twisted Sisters and Cold-Blooded Killers" myself!

Secret Beyond the Door was a one and done watch for me too. Had I not already been familiar with the premise as it was used in Rebecca, I maybe would have liked it more. As it stands though, the latter is the far superior film while the former feels just like what it is, a seven years later retread.

As for the other films in the set, I already own the Olive versions. Good set for those new to them all though.

Very cool, thanks for sharing. I can definitely see the Saul Bass style in your work.

Good Looking out! I tried to restrain myself from buying the dvd, you know, hoping that a blu-ray would come. But who knows when that could be, right? So I went ahead and made a purchase, 14.58 shipped. I've really been wanting to see this one for along time. Thanks again for that link.
