They had no stock on Tuesday or Thursday (next truck), so it appears they never even had any copies to begin with.
Best Buy gets movies every day UPS/FedEx delivers. It doesn't depend on a stores truck schedule. BR is part of a new endcap promo next Sunday so some stores should AT LEAST be getting those copies soon. Maybe.

Best Buy had it but with WB refusing to send more than 2 copies of catalog titles, it's almost like they didn't. Especially with restocks taking a week or more.

Is there someone who wanted the Dangerous Days DVD but accidentally received one of the other blu-ray discs willing to trade me it for the Dangerous Days DVD?

I don't want the Dangerous Days DVD, as I already have the old Briefcase DVD set.

You better test your old disc before trading it away. I own the old DVD version and the Blu-ray version, and the DVD with Dangerous Days played about half the doc before becoming unplayable. I had to finish watching the doc on the Blu-ray version.

That's one of the reasons I dislike discs. You're in the mood to watch something, and the disc has gone bad.

Honestly, it won't even bother me if the old DVD disc stopped working.

I just don't want a DVD copy of Dangerous Days period. Just a shame Warner Bros. totally botched this release by not including all of the Collector's Edition blu-ray discs. I'll have to figure out how to get the old release with the Workprint and Dangerous Days included on a blu-ray.

No 4K UHD release should include a DVD...ever.

I watched this last night and was floored by the PQ of this disc: from the lovely grain, to the fantastic use of HDR, and even the sharpness of the picture. There's nothing more I can really add that hasn't already been said by others in this thread. A definite top 5 disc IMO.

There are too many top five discs; I motion we start using top twenty discs.

Yeas raise your hand. Nays raise your hand.

Yeas have it.

I'm kidding, of course. Love how there are so many great quality discs now!

I wouldn't normally want or care about a DVD, but I thought someone said the doc looked better on the DVD than the Blu-ray for some reason. They both looked pretty similar IMO, which is to say neither of them looked very good by today's standards.

I'd rather they include Dangerous Days in some capacity, even if it's a DVD, than not include it at all or include it as a digital bonus. But that's coming from someone who's never owned it.

It may not be a problem though.
Yeah I'd be careful about advising this to people in general. HDR is on these discs no matter what, it can't be removed, only "converted" to SDR by the player or TV. That can cause issues. I know with my Sony X800 there was no way to stop the SDR conversion from crushing the shit out of blacks, which would be a massive problem with this disc I bet.

Could someone please sell me on this movie? I was only 1 when this came out. I have seen a ton of great reviews. When I watch the trailer though, it doesn't look like something I would enjoy. I'm not a huge sci-fi fan so that probably has a lot to do with it. It looks pretty outdated and, forgive me, cheesy.

It sounds like the 4k disc is top notch though, but it seems like a risky blind buy for me based on the trailer.

Looking forward to replies. Thanks!

Blade Runner is The Greatest Film in the History of the Known Universe™. To go through life not experiencing its awesomeness is akin to being a corpse: cold and lifeless.

What really impressed me about this release (which finally arrived) was the Atmos remix. Ye gods, this is an impressive soundtrack. I heard things in this mix (like the automated voices of the flying cars) that were previously only mumbles. Very, very nice. My only quibble remains the different audio takes of Leon's interview. I've never understood why there are differences in the actors' deliveries when it would be so easy to use the same audio (as you'd expect from Deckard re-listening to the interview).

As for the picture, I have to say I thought it looked a little desatured. But that's something I can remedy myself via my OLDE settings. The clarity, of course, is OUTSTANDING.

As you're not a sci-fi fan, the movie may not resonate with you as much as it does for others, but Blade Runner was in many ways the culmination of all sci-fi cinema that came before it, and is in many ways a template for all sci-fi cinema that's come after. Scott, Ford, Hauer, and many of the production staff were at the absolute top of their game as immortalized in Blade Runner.

For me, and I suspect many others in this forum, Blade Runner is the quintessential sci-fi lover's sci-fi film. This presentation is by far the best the film has enjoyed on a home format.

I have to agree with you that the Atmos mix is a revelation! Even downscaled to TrueHD on my setup, I heard things I'd never heard before.

My only quibble is that it sounded like the sound mixers not only changed the signature sound of Deckard's gun (added more of an explosive pop on its lead in, which was welcome), but took a little of the futuristic buzz off (not horrible, but a little disappointing as I love the sound of his gun).
[Show spoiler]It also seemed like they changed Deckard's two shots through the wall at Roy to one shot, though you could still see two flashes. Again, not a horrible change (if I heard correctly), but noticeable. Did anyone else notice that change?

If it helps, I'm not a huge sci-fi fan. I'm a cinema fan and Blade Runner is a beautiful, beautiful drama/thriller film with elements of sci-fi. I say that because it's a lot more about human emotion and what it feels like to be human.

It has sci-fi jargon in it but underneath is a lot of heart and soul. If you like visually stunning films you'll probably like this one.

If you have Prime you can get the Chase Amazon Prime Visa which gives you 5% cash back on Amazon purchases, 2% at Restaurants, Gas Stations and Drug Stores, 1% everything else.

Back to the topic at hand, the 4K looks incredible and the sound, even downmixed to TrueHD, is amazing!

Thanks for the replies as to why you like the movie. I do like great visuals in a movie.

I have been so close a few times to buying the digibook, and then I watch the trailer and pass. All of these disc reviews make me want to buy the 4k, buy I'd like a little better justification before spending that much on a blind buy.

Thanks again!
