Correct. It no longer gives you the "You've already seen this" message.

That is awesome! The movoe pass 2.0 is much better... when i originally had it, it was 1 movie every 24 hours and only see a movie once! But i guess sales spoke for themselves! Now they need to just add an imax/3D version and it will be perfect!

Yeah, it's been great so far for me as well. Don't foresee them adding IMAX/3D, at least not at the $9.95 price point. The average consumer doesn't care for IMAX/3D, so it's a small crowd they'd be catering to.

I personally would welcome IMAX (paid twice to see Dunkirk in 15/70mm), but at the same time would only see the films that are actually filmed in IMAX, which isn't that many.

Saw Spider-Man two nights in a row. Thinking about seeing Dark Tower tonight. I could swear it came out and left theaters already, but showed up on my local theater list yesterday.

It would be cool if they added an IMAX/3D 'option' for a little more money $14.95 - $19.95 a month? That way consumers could have a choice of a standard viewing membership or a premium membership that added the enhanced formats. Choice is always a good thing! Who knows where this might go.

Definitely agree, just know they've been very selective in the past with their offerings. I'm just happy we've got a $9.95 option locked in for at least twelve months. Hopefully theaters will be receptive to this (increase in foot traffic leading to people buying more concessions since tickets are cheaper, etc) and it'll stay around longer.

I wouldn't even mind if they threw in 1 IMAX purchase per calendar month. That would seem fair, or that $14.95 price point would be acceptable too for those that want let's say, 3 IMAX screenings max per month.

They did once upon a time...and it would run you $100 a month IIRC.

Yep. They've really had a wonky history. It was only last year that some "high usage" users were forced to terminate or sign onto the $100 plan. Crazily enough, a bunch still kept their membership.

Really curious to see what the ultimate price point will be after this promotional year.

They're going to raise the price eventually? [emoji1304]

The CEO said they don't plan on raising the price, but they were trying to raise additional funds or get a share of ticket sales from theaters to create a sustainable business model. And that may be a tall task (they announced for It on opening weekend, 1% of the ticket sales were from movie pass, which ultimately suggests it will remain a niche thing for die hard moviegoers but not an industry changer), so they might well be either forced to raise the price or end up going out of business.

If there was a truly unlimited card, say allowing premium showings, advance tickets for avoiding sell outs and planning screenings with friends, Fathom events, all the theaters they currently don't have, and had a great app/customer support, I could see myself continuing on at like $50-60 a month. Though with current service (bunch of technical issues with the app including showings not appearing for no clear reason, some bizarre restrictions on the screenings allowed, and even a number of theaters not part of the service at all) I've already paid for a couple films out of pocket.

Now given that I typically go to movies twice a week, if I even use it half the time, it's a big value to me. But I would need more and one stop kind of service if I was going to do it at a significantly higher price (which is why I didn't sign up for it at the higher price when I heard about it before).

I'd probably go up to $20 tops. Adding one premium format screening per month would sweeten the deal.

I guess it all depends what movies come out certain months. There are some points where I might not see a movie for a month. So you can cancel it and reactivate anytime you want?

Pretty sure you can cancel anytime you want similar to Netflix or Prime. Question is, do they let you keep your card and have it inactive until you decide to resubscribe and reactivate the card again? Or is it the card dead and then you gotta wait all over again for the next one?

You're right about the more dead months in theaters. Even then, you could always rewatch a movie you've seen or watch a totally new one you would've otherwise maybe rented on home video, just to get your money's worth, of course.

I was wondering that too. Do you have to give the card back or does it just not work till you sign back up.

Yeah, I suppose that makes sense. Especially if its still $10. Seeing one movie already pays for it.
