Hypothetically, you can absolutely do this and there is no way that MoviePass will ever know.

They are, and it's definitely not using the card as one is supposed to, but the idea would be if someone loads the ticket value on the card and then just buys an advance ticket at the kiosk, would Movie Pass know about it?

When I get a credit card bill with movie theater transactions, I usually just see the theater name and price listed, but if Movie Pass cards actually get data about the film and showing time seen, they could ban someone for doing that.

Just used it to see American Made. It worked flawlessly. With a $12.50 ticket, the card has already paid for itself.

If they know, they don't care. This has been an option since the card's inception.

And this is the kind of thing that will get this whole thing shut down and ruin it for everyone.

I'd rather they just keep banning people and then charging a re-registration fee everytime someone tries to come back.

As long as what you charge is the same price as the movie you checked in for, no one will ever be the wiser. I've been a member for 3 years, and I have done this many times. One day this whole thing will be shut down, but it won't be because of me, it will be because this isn't a sustainable business model. Plenty of people are making many more "legitimate" purchases per month than I am.

Nope. It doesn't take many to try and save a few dollars here and there to do so.

Just got back from using the card for the first time to see American Made, and I had no problems at all! This is gonna be great while it lasts. I wanted to go saturday night but my dog got sick.

I used the kiosk since it was a Cinemark theatre. I will be going again tomorrow or tuesday to see Dunkirk before it leaves the theatre.

We finally have all 4 cards. I helped everyone order and told everyone how to use them. (I don’t go to the movies myself very often). No problems with any of them. One was used a week ago, in a town with only 2 no large brand theaters. 2 were used Saturday at a Marcus theater, no problems, they said they’ve been seeing more. 1 was used yesterday on an army base, no problems. That worker told my son he thought it was a scam. So he was excited to see it work. My son said then it’s a scam with benefits.
