It's one of the few films where the opening credit sequence actually engages the viewer with the unsettling carnival animatronics. I knew I had seen this film before when I was younger on AMC. I really enjoyed it; I'm hoping I'll be able to watch Invaders from Mars tomorrow. I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't seen it yet.
I didn't enjoy this one much, it was kind of slow for me. But I was going to say I recommend Ghoulie's 2 if you like carnival/fun house type movies.

I'm in the same boat. Didn't love the Funhouse. Had some good scenes for sure, and I'm usually a fan of the carnival setting (there was a Goosebumps book set in a carnival that was one of my favourites ). Didn't love the characters, they seemed too cheesy or something. Not sure how to describe it but I feel what I feel!

Scream Factory just announced on Twitter that Deadly Eyes is OOP — they have some stock left on their site, Amazon is 1-3 weeks delivery time and DiabolikDVD had 1 copy left....

Ovidio G. Assonitis most likely sold them rights that he did not actually have. Columbia/Sony has been the US rights holder to this for decades, and while it's always possible that rights can revert back to their producers, they may not have done so yet with this title. I was surprised to hear that Scream/Shot had it, but was immediately dubious of its legitimacy when they said they got it from the international distributor. It would be like them licensing Swap Thing from Studio Canal even though its held by MGM in the States. Maybe they can work something out or the rights will indeed become available some day.

Swung (swinged?) by my local Best Buy today and they had two copies of The Thing, both without slips ( ), and two copies of Return of the Living Dead WITH slips. Didn't have my card, so I'm gonna order the latter online and pick it up tomorrow or something. I sold off my Fox/MGM version when this one was announced, but never got around to picking it up.

I just wish I could get my hands on a copy of THE THING with a slip that doesn't cost $50 on ebay... It's driving me nuts.

For what it's worth, I just bought The Thing from Amazon and got a slip.

Let's not give Sony too much credit here. I mean, they are still sitting on Candyman (this year being the 25th anniversary even), yet they figured 976-EVIL was worthy enough to release themselves.

Candyman seems like such an obvious film, and one that you would think would certainly have more appeal than 976-Evil, however I'm curious to know how much it's actually liked by the average person/horror fan and how that translates to sales. It's hard to imagine Candyman selling worse than 976-Evil, yet there must be some method behind why 976 was chosen for release over Candyman.

Starts Monday I believe. Scream Factory sales always start on Mondays and typically run for a week.

The Funhouse grew on me with repeat viewings. Once I accepted that it's not your typical slasher film is where I found the beauty of what Hooper accomplished with it. It's not perfect and has some pacing issues but it has a fantastic atmosphere, score, better than your average slasher movie characters and some great effectively creepy moments. It's finale is also great too along with the great cinematography. It makes for a great after dark horror film.

Honestly, I don't even think they're close in terms of popularity. Candyman is a genuine horror classic. It was a box-office hit back in 1992, garnered two sequels, and remains one of the best horror films of the '90s. 976-EVIL wasn't popular or well-liked upon release, and I doubt many today regard it very highly.

I checked IMDb to see the difference in user ratings:

Candyman has more than 54,000 votes, while 976-EVIL has less than 4,000.
