October 17th - available now!

Yes, at this time it is exclusive to the US and Target.

Yes!

No, the DVDs are Region 1 and the Blu-rays are Region A, so you need a player that can play it.

How is the Picture Quality?
It looks superb throughout - it's near-flawless. The strobing at the top of the first episode was a bit of a mess on Netflix, but here it's pristine. The more intense strobing in the last episode does yield some blockiness, but I think it's unlikely to be very noticeable when you're watching it, as opposed to frame-by-frame analyzing it to look for flaws. This show is absolutely gorgeous on Blu-ray, as it should be. This is what everything should look like on Blu-ray. They maximized the space used on each disc and they really paid attention to the encoding, which you have to for a show with so many dark scenes.

I'm def gonna pick this up, but I was hoping for a 4k steelbook exclusive. Don't get me wrong, this is a pretty cool throwback and will sit great next to all my Halloween and friday 13th VHS, but I'm a big time steelbook collector and am a little saddened that there is no sign of one to come..

I was able to snag the steelbooks for all the marvel Netflix shows (DD season 1 and 2, Jones and the newly announced luke cage) although DD has long been sold out, Jones and cage are still in stock. And at my local best buys, I have seen both seasons of DD blu in stock just this week. Maybe the stores are starting to restock. Or you can always buy online.

So they're gonna squeeze the entire 7 hours of this show onto 2 BDs? What kind of bitrate does a disc with 3 and a half hours of stuff on it have? Maybe 20 Mbps at the most? Here I was hoping for an actual quality release. Would it have killed them to put the show on 3 BDs?

Plenty of shows have done 8 episodes on two discs. In fact, I think Breaking Bad has some seasons with 5 episodes per disc on just one disc plus extras loaded. Granted the quality of the episodes don't look that great but it has been done before.

I know that Bates Motel has a total of 10 episodes per season and it fits nicely onto 2 disks. I never thought the quality suffered because of that, I always thought it looked VERY good.

Since this is only an 8-episode season, I think 4 episodes per disk will be enough.

"Squeeze"? You have no idea what you're talking about. 3.5 hours of 1080P content, and no extras will not compromise bitrate whatsoever. Plenty of reference quality movies have much longer runtimes on discs.
