Oh, just to update, you will probably need a pair of glasses for the job or the 3D TV if you don't want to wair any pair of specs.

Actually, this thread came before you made the other one, so looks like you win bronze.

And companies are going this route instead of headtracking because....?

Headtracking with the Eyetoy > 3D

FPS games would be much more enjoyable that way.

I'm not so sure. The problem is trying to keep your line of sight towards the TV. I don't think headtracking via Eyetoy or PS Eye would be implemented that well.

It's as easy as a pair of glasses with two infrared LED's and a filter over the Eyetoy. The LED's act as a reference point that you calibrate pregame. Then, no matter where you stand(within the Eyetoys range) it would give you the right perspective view. This would work perfectly for shooting games. Imagine a Time Crisis like game where you can literally hide behind your couch.

There are some really great things that can be done.

I think people would complain too much because enemies would easily be hidden out of view. The only way to see them all coming would be to constantly jump from on side of the screen to the other. 3D glasses seems to be better 'til a solution can be found for that head tracking side effect.

This thread was moved to the PS3 forum because its information is PS3 specific - as the PS3 has its own forum (no other standalone does - the ps3 is unique in this sense ). The player section should be used moreless for standalones, and the PC section is used for PC related things. There are areas of what I might call cross migration but if deemed to be PS3 heavy - I will not hesitate to move it to the PS3 section.

While moving it makes sense in one way, what gets buried is that this is for MOVIES and games - the name of this forum is Blu-ray games and PS3, not Everything PS3. Getting full 3D support for BD movies is so important IMO that it should even be a news item. It means you don't need a specialized deck to enjoy B3Ds (or whatever they end up being called). If you don't like it being in the Player section, at least move it to Technology and News.

its easier????

im just speculating, not being sarcastic or anything. i just figured since 3D technology has been out for awhile and commercialized for awhile, while head-tracking is still needing a lot of development.
